I might have married a suit, but trust, I know where I came from 👕🦋🧢.
Milwaukee has a long labor history - & Bay View, where I grew up, is part of it.
In 1886, workers marched for the 8-hour workday during what became known as the Bay View Massacre. The Wisconsin militia opened fire on the crowd, killing several people.
So on Labor Day, a little reminder from Milwaukee: so many of the things we consider basic working rights today exist because ordinary people organized, spoke up & demanded better.
Never underestimate the power of individual voices & collective movements.
