Join Essentially Empowered this July for a free series of prenatal workshops designed to provide evidence-based education, practical tools, emotional support, and opportunities to connect with other families.
Each session will focus on a different topic:
• July 2 – Breastfeeding Basics (Martin Luther King Library)
Learn about latch, positioning, milk supply, common challenges, partner support, and what to expect during the early days of feeding your baby.
• July 9 – Newborn Vaccines & Procedures (Washington Park Library)
Explore routine newborn screenings, vitamin K, eye ointment, hepatitis B vaccination, informed consent, and how to make decisions that align with your family's values.
• July 16 – Advocating for Yourself or Your Partner in Birth Spaces (Martin Luther King Library)
Gain tools to communicate with healthcare providers, understand your rights, ask informed questions, create birth preferences, and navigate unexpected situations with confidence.
• July 23 – NICU Expectations and Challenges (Atkinson Library)
Learn about common reasons babies are admitted to the NICU, what families can expect during a NICU stay, ways to stay involved in your baby's care, and available community supports.
• July 30 – Postpartum Support Group (Washington Park Library)
Join a supportive discussion focused on recovery, mental health, relationships, infant feeding, self-care, and building your village during the postpartum period.
Participants will also have access to our Doula Connection Corner, where families can meet doulas, learn about available services, ask questions, and receive referrals to community resources.
Each participant will receive a gift. Space is limited and registration is required.
