We’re still under 🧊 occupation, and many of our neighbors haven’t been able to leave home to work or care for their families. One family I know hasn’t had their caregiver leave since November.

Mutual aid like GoFundMe is one of the easiest ways to get dollars directly to families, but with so much need, many campaigns stall out unless they gain traction early.

I want to help push some of them forward, so I’m raffling off an 80‑Minute Hydrafacial + Dermaplaning treatment ($415 value). The giveaway ends midnight 3/1 and the winner will be announced 3/2.

On Saturday 2/14, Haus staff are volunteering their time to provide hair, spa, and injection services — with 100% of proceeds (plus tips) donated to .

Artwork by and will be available via pay-what-you-can, with funds redistributed to local mutual aid efforts.
All three Haus salons are also collecting pantry-stable food, diapers, and wipes and other personal hygiene items.

Community care is everything.

Across my city, neighbors are helping neighbors in ways big and small. There are so many ways to give your time, money and resources. At , we’re collecting food and personal hygiene items for Casa Maria. And I’m hyper-focusing my effort to collect funds for a virtual diaper drive to contribute to the larger effort. I know firsthand how expensive they are and even in time of crisis, the dirty diapers don’t stop!

The great thing is that you don’t need to leave your couch to participate! You can Venmo me @ pizzamaritza now through next Friday 1/30. Then I’ll do a big diaper run and drop it off, proof of receipts and all.

Nursing pre-recs/life lately 💪

Some of you already know, but it’s time for the hard launch: I’M GOING TO NURSING SCHOOL!

Starting this January, I’ll be back in school full-time with the BIG goal of becoming a nurse injector (think tox, filler, etc). This industry moves at a fast pace, and there’s always so much to learn. It makes sense to me to continue building on everything I’ve loved doing as an AP Esthetician. Continuing education is always a goal of mine so I can best support my clients, and this is a (big) way I’m making that happen.

Starting this next chapter means I’ll be adjusting my schedule based on lab and clinical rotations. Things may change throughout the semester, but my clients will be the first to know when my schedule moves around. I’ll also finally have evening availability (for the first time since having Vera)!

If you’re a client, this is your sign to pre-book your next 2-3 appointments. Trust me, it’ll help us stay on track with your brow and skin goals. And it helps me more than you know!

To be totally transparent, adjusting my availability is one of the hardest parts of this transition. Every service provider worries about losing momentum or disappointing clients. But I’m trusting that the amazing community I’ve built (that’s YOU) will continue to show up like you always have.

Spend a half-day in St. Paul with me! Most Wednesdays when I’m not in the salon, Vera and I are able to go on a little adventure. This week, we decided to hop across the river and explore these special spots in St. Paul:

This was my first time here, but I’ve been meaning to check it out for a long time. I had seen an iced coffee drink with banana and chocolate on an Instagram reel but sadly it had a limited run. However!! The very wise barista pointed me in the direction of the ReSipsa, which is a coffee drink with banana and cinnamon flavors. I added milk and had it iced! Not pictured: Coffee cake my toddler DEVOURED. We will be back for more!

Once per month at their Jackson Street Roundhouse location, the MN Transportation Museum hosts Tots & Trains. The price of admission includes storytime, snacks, and crafts—plus you can explore the insides of real train cars in the museum and see the impressive antique train models. MNTM is a time relic in the best of ways!

Taco House 🌮🏡⭐️💗🫑
When I was little, we lived on St Paul’s vibrant West Side in district del sol. I have fond memories of my mom bribing us post-dentist visit with lunch at Boca Chica Taco House. It’s fast, it’s casual, and it always hits the spot! I highly recommend the enchiladas!

Raspberry Island to check out .latino.museum ‘s Alebrijes: Keepers of the Island exhibit! 🐒🖼️🌈🏝️👻
The papier-mâché creatures are so vibrant and impressively intricate! Some are 16 feet tall! We had so much fun exploring the tiny island and taking in the creations.

After that… it was time to head back to the other side of the river for naptime. 😴
