I didn’t get into esthetics to become a salesperson. Quite honestly, I’d never list selling as one of my strengths.

What I do love is learning everything I can about skin. I spend my time studying ingredients, treatment protocols, skin conditions, and continuing my education so I can create routines that are truly personalized, not just trendy.

My job isn’t to sell you skincare.

My job is to educate you, guide you, and curate a routine based on what your skin actually needs.

Why I Don’t Use Steam in My Facials 🚫

Let’s talk about steam… A lot of people assume it’s a must-have in professional facials, but here’s why I don’t use it in my treatments at Skin by Natalia:

It dehydrates the skin – Prolonged exposure to hot steam can strip the skin of essential moisture, leaving it tight, sensitized, and more vulnerable to irritation. This is the exact opposite of what we want in a treatment designed to heal and restore balance.

It’s hard to breathe under steam – Many clients find the constant heat and humidity uncomfortable, especially those with asthma, allergies, or sensitive lungs. Your facial should feel relaxing, not overwhelming.

Steam machines can be risky – If not perfectly maintained, they can “spit” boiling hot water droplets onto the skin. This is not only uncomfortable, but potentially dangerous.

The only true benefit is sebum softening – Steam’s main role is to soften sebum (oil) for easier extractions. However, professional skincare lines (like the ones I use in my studio) offer safer, more effective ways to prep the skin without compromising its health.

Overuse is a real issue – Many estheticians leave steam on for far too long, which can cause:
+ Dilated capillaries
+ Increased redness and irritation
+ Disrupted skin barrier
+ Excess dehydration

The truth is: steam is outdated. Modern esthetics prioritizes skin health over tradition. By using advanced products and techniques, I can prep the skin for extractions, increase hydration, and support long-term results without the negative side effects of steam.
