Starting this week, I’m taking a small step back from the treatment room by dropping Tuesday’s. I’ll now be open Wednesday—Friday 10 am—7 pm by appointment only. This change will create more time for me to do all of the behind the scenes work that I have really been struggling to do for a while now. ​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
Working 4—10’s with clients (give or take depending on the day) has left me with not much mental or physical energy to do all of the other work that owning a business requires. At almost 6 years into being self employed, I really value my weekends & find it harder to sacrifice them. I truly do believe in work/life balance, I think it’s just really hard to find and takes some healthy boundaries and a lot of practice.​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
So this is me trying something new and hoping it will create more balance so I can take better care of myself, my clients & Planted as a whole. Tuesday’s will now be a dedicated “work from home day”. Also a day that I can come into the studio and work on things that I normally can’t do when I’m working with clients. I’m really excited about this change, I’ve had so many plans that I can finally start working on!​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
This doesn’t mean I’m never going to do a little work here and there on the weekends, it’s just a part of being self employed! But it will create more structure & more time for life outside of work. ​​​​​​​​

In the future at some point, once I’ve settled into this new schedule and have gotten caught up on some things—I am open to the idea of coming in here and there on a Tuesday or Saturday, as I feel like it. I’m also open to having some dedicated shop hours for glō refills & retail. ​​​​​​​​

I realize how much time this takes away from my wonderful clients & I apologize for that. But thankfully so far the transition has been pretty smooth! Thank you everyone for being so patient and understanding. You all keep me going & help keep my passion alive♥️

How to care for your skin in between body waxes🫶​​​​​​​​

✨EXFOLIATE: manual (scrubbing) &/or chemical (serums)—3x’s a week or more depending your skin/needs ​​​​​​​​
✨MOISTURIZE: oils &/or creams—daily​​​​​​​​

Waxing removes hair at the root & it grows back finer as “baby hairs”. It’s harder for baby hairs to push through the skin, especially if there’s a buildup of dead, dry skin.​​​​​​​​

Another benefit is a more successful wax appointment. If your hair and skin are dry, your hair is more prone to breaking & your skin will be more sensitive to the wax. Always make sure you stop using any exfoliating serums a few days before your wax & don’t manually exfoliate the day of your wax (but the day before is great). ​​​​​​​​

🌼 I grew up in Alaska & it definitely holds a special place in my heart. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend making a trip up there.

🌼 I went to school for Esthetics in Anchorage, Ak & moved to Montana shortly after graduating. I’ve been a Licensed Esthetician in Montana for a little over 10 years.

🌼 My husband’s name is Dustin, we’ve been married for 5 years, he was born & raised in MT. We have a
rescue dog named Penny Lane, she’s part American Pit Bull Terrier (or house hippo/velvet potato, etc) but is definitely a mix. We’re actually anxiously waiting for her dna results right now🤭She’s a part of the family & we love her dearly.

🌼 I’ve always been into arts/crafts/music. I loved to make mix tapes & cds when I was younger (showing my age haha) and now I love to make playlists on Spotify. I’d like to get back into painting and drawing someday.

🌼 I love to knit & crochet and have a little seasonal biz I mostly make beanies but sometimes scarves/cowls & other hand knit goods.

May has been a whirlwind!

My parents were here visiting earlier in the month & as soon as they left my husband and I started packing and moving out of our apartment of 6 years. We found a duplex with more space & a fenced in yard for our dog Penny Lane (for us too but mostly for her☺️).

We officially moved in last weekend & now we’re working on getting our old place all cleaned up. Hopefully this weekend we can start unpacking & settling into the duplex🏡

This has nothing to do with Esthetics but I wanted to share why I have barely been on here. I do have some new things in the works for Planted & hope to share more soon🌵✨

With Waxing my focus is always on ✨results & comfort✨ speed is not a priority to me. I actually book extra time with every appointment instead of overbooking my day (no hate to the Waxers who do, I get it). I used to work that way but it wasn’t sustainable for me & it’s not an environment I thrive in or give my best in. ​​​​​​​​

Can I do a 10-15 minute Brazilian? Yes, and oftentimes I do without trying. But other times it takes 20-30 mins (sometimes longer if it’s not a maintenance or if I’m removing ingrowns etc). ​​​​​​​​

FACIALS✨are finally coming to Planted!

I’ve been feeling a pull back towards Facials for a few years now but the timing was never right, until now.

I’ll be offering 60 minute custom Facials, a unique experience for Missoula🌿

You will also have the option to get an Hydrojelly Mask as well, or keep it all glō. Each Facial will be customized just for you, your wants/needs.

Facials start November 8th & will be open to all online, for as long as possible. Spaces are limited so I may need to close my books for them eventually, I recommend booking out.

✨I’m a nostalgic human, almost to a fault. But I love reminiscing & reflecting, so that’s what I’m doing while I’m stuck at home right now.

This time last year we were renovating Suite 404 & selling off most of what I had in the downtown space. I’m still blown away by how many of you showed up for me during that sale. I love getting updates on how your plants & other items are doing🥰

A question I get a lot, mostly from other Estheticians/salon owners is: “Where did you get your shelves?”

The answer is: “We made them!”

With the help of my husband Dustin & his father, Dwayne. They are actually the second set of shelves that my FIL has made for my biz. The other set is looking gorgeous over at 🫶

For these shelves—we got the lumber from Lowes & Home Depot (they were all pretty warped so we had to go to both places to find the least warped pieces).

Cut to size, sanded & stained.
I originally went with a really light stain but something was off. After thinking about it all night, I got a different stain the following day and re-stained with the color they are now. And I’m so happy I did🤎They are perfect.

I ordered the brackets from Amazon & my husband & FIL hung them up.

We were originally going to hang them on the wall to the left, where the mirror is now. But the studs run vertically on that wall so we only had one other place to hang them. I’m happy for that hiccup too because it all worked out beautifully.

I included the paint color in these pics, since that’s the other question I get a lot from clients!
It’s Blanched by Magnolia, a beautiful creamy off white “greige”. It’s what I used in the last 2 spaces I was in as well, thanks to my friend .byjessie 😘

As much as I love the process of remodeling & redesigning spaces—I am very happy to not be moving again this fall. After doing it 3 years in a row, I’m finally settled in somewhere for a while. That’s not to say I don’t have a Pinterest board for my next space, something a little bigger. But I’m in no hurry to make that happen. We’re good & cozy!
