We're curious: do you put the foils in first and then base color in between, or base color first and then foils in while the base color is processing?!

"There's no right or wrong way," says Carly Zanoni @The.Blonde.Chronicles. "Personally I like to put the foils in first. Here’s why:

👉🏼 THE TIMING WORKS OUT BETTER FOR ME: I start with a low volume developer for my lightener and then when I’m done applying foils I go back with the base color in between. Usually I’m using a demi like @schwarzkopfusa Igora Vibrance for blending (like I did in this video) or the Igora 10 minute color. So those only need to sit for 10-20 minutes. By the time my base color is done, the last highlights are done & everything is ready to come out

👉🏼 THE LIFT IS SUPER CLEAN: I’ve found that when I do base color first and then go back and highlight, the lightener has to work a littttleeee bit harder to get through that base color. And sometimes I run into a little more warmth than I’d like!

🔥 BUT HERE’S A TIP: if you do go the foil and then base color route, lightener you use is SO IMPORTANT!! You want something that stays put and does not swell at all so that you can easily move the foils around without lightener coming out. ***My new fave for highlights is the @schwarzkopfusa BlondMe Precision lightener mixed in a 1:1.5 ratio! It DOES NOT MOVE!!!"
