Beautiful Guests and Friends,
A little update from my heart to yours.
I’ll be out of the salon beginning today November 24, taking a much-needed breath before diving into the magic of the holiday season. I’ll be back on Small Business Saturday, November 29, and I’m opening the salon doors wide for the community that day.
We’re celebrating Haircuts With Heart and stepping into the next chapter of this movement together. If you’ve been curious about how the Pay What You Can haircut model works or what it means for our community, this is your chance to come by, ask questions, connect, and feel the heartbeat behind it.
💛 Rooted in Care Color Membership Sale
If you’ve been thinking about joining the Rooted in Care membership, Small Business Saturday is the moment to jump in. There will be a special one-day sale exclusively for new memberships, so keep your eyes on my social channels that morning.
💛 Haircuts With Heart Merchandise Drop
So many of you reached out after seeing the merch on WQAD — and yes, it’s finally happening. Haircuts With Heart apparel and accessories will officially be available on Small Business Saturday. A full print-on-demand shop is launching, and the email going out this week will include the link for first access. Every purchase directly supports the movement and helps us continue offering dignified, community-centered beauty to the Quad Cities.
💛 Product Inventory Blowout
I’m pulling every product out of my cabinets and putting them on super-sale. If you’ve had your eye on something or want to stock up before the holidays, stop in and see what’s left — once it’s gone, it’s gone.
💛 Gift Sets + Pre-Orders
If you’re on my email list, keep an eye out — you’ll get early access to pre-order this year’s holiday gift sets. They’re limited, intentional, and make the sweetest gifts.
A quick note on communication:
While I’m away, I’ll be pausing all appointment communication and admin. I’ll begin responding again starting November 30.
Wishing you all a beautiful holiday 🫶🏼 one filled with peace, softness, and moments that feel like home. I can’t wait to celebrate the rest of this season with you and continue building a community where beauty meets belonging.
With so much love,
Nicole

This sweet soul has been woven into my life in the sweetest of seasons. I highly recommend her for all she offers and what she can offer by extension of her team at The Soul Collective!
07/29/2025
I recently put pen to paper (and heart to press) to share what this next season means to me, and why I’m shifting how I serve.
The Pay What You Can haircut model and the Rooted in Care color membership aren’t just business decisions. They’re acts of service. They’re legacy. They’re love.
I don’t know if the story will be picked up by news outlets, but I know this: it matters. And I’m proud to speak it out loud.
Here’s the full press release if you’d like to read it; and if it resonates, feel free to share it.
•FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE•
Haircare With Heart: A New Community-First Salon Model Comes to Uptown Moline
Moline, IL — August 1, 2025 — Haven Beauty Collective is proud to announce the launch of a new, community-first business model that centers care, dignity, and accessibility. Beginning August 1, haircuts at this one-chair salon in Uptown Moline, near SouthPark Mall, will be offered through a Pay What You Can pricing structure. No judgment. No explanations required. Just beauty services rooted in empathy, respect, and mutual support.
This initiative wasn’t born out of charity, it was born out of the current moment. A time when human rights, civil liberties, and social programs are not only being questioned, but reshaped in ways that disproportionately affect the most vulnerable. In moments where collectively those served by Nicole have shared how heavy the world is to navigate.
Haven Beauty Collective recognizes that it will take collective effort to navigate these times, and this model is the salon’s contribution: a chair, a conversation, and a safe place to feel seen, cared for, and whole.
Haven has always been more than just a salon. It is a sanctuary for transformation, confidence, and community. With the introduction of Pay What You Can haircuts, the salon ensures that no one is turned away because of what they can or cannot pay.
As founder Nicole Perkins’ mentor, Sarah Stevens, says: “This is not generosity, it’s justice. And it is not charity, it’s community care.” These words represent the very heartbeat of the initiative.
The model is built on a familiar truth: just like being invited to a cookout with a friend and a dish to pass, communities thrive when everyone brings what they can. When the community does what the community is called to do, there is enough for everyone.
As Perkins explains, “I know I can't save the world, however if this is the one thing I can offer the community I've lived in for the last 16 years—from the corner of the Quad Cities that I've carved, to offer some relief—then that's what I'm going to do.”
While haircut services will be offered on a Pay What You Can basis, Haven will continue to provide its full range of premium color, extension and treatment services at standard pricing. This ensures a sustainable business structure while extending access to care in an equitable and empowering way.
New Features Supporting the Launch
• The Pay It Forward Wall – Guests can pre-pay or claim a gifted service, no questions asked
• The Rooted in Care Membership – A monthly plan for loyal color clients, with perks and impact
• The Community Impact Board – A growing visual wall celebrating kindness and connection
• Open House – Saturday, August 9 – Guests are invited to stop by, see the space, ask questions, make a donation, or just say hello

•Meredith and Otto•
Weddings at the beginning of June are by far some of my favorite of the late Spring/early Summer! The brighter color pallets are front and center and the energy is always buzzing the morning of! Everyone looks forward to the sunshine and warmer temps.... There is just something special about this time!
Meredith's wedding was no exception! Each of her bridal party and family were so sweet and attentive to her and each other. People from all walks of her life surrounded and uplifted her! It is always a joy to see the dynamic of those chosen to spend this time of someone life with them. It is a true reflection of the life they live and the love they give!
I couldn't have done this without the team of people that helped with both hair and makeup!
Tori , Keri , & Rebecca thank you for graciously helping Meredith and her crew prepare to watch her walk down the isle to her forever!
