Patricia Ann (Hiler) Helzerman, (Pat) of Milan, Michigan passed peacefully on Thursday, November 21, 2025 after enduring a three year journey with dementia and cancer.
She was born on August 29, 1945 in Owosso Michigan to Francis H. (Spring) Hiler and Floyd A. Hiler. She grew up in Ypsilanti, MI and Graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1964 and attended Emmanual Lutheran Church. She married Clarence Helzerman while attending Eastern Michigan University (EMU) in 1964.
After giving birth to her two sons Pat was a homemaker for a number of years before returning to EMU to study Nursing in late 70s. She graduated in 1980 from the EMU RN nursing program with a BSN and academic honors. She then began 30 year nursing career with the University of Michigan health system.
She started working on General Medicine floor of the old main hospital. She ultimately landed a role as a Surgical Clinician in the Gastroenterology (GI) Department where she spent over a decade supporting patients receiving advanced GI care. Later she went on to work in the infusion clinic at the cancer center.
Pat was a caregiver through and through and a loving mother. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and hosting family events. She and Clarence raised Brittanys and traveled extensively all over the US in their Bluebird motor home. She loved visiting historical sites and national parks.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Clarence Helzerman and her two sons Christopher Helzerman (Nicholas Panepinto) of Glendale, California and Charles (Jenni) Helzerman of Milan, Michigan; grandchildren Danielle Helzerman, Mickayla Helzerman and Tyler Helzerman; her sister Marie Hiler (John Howard), brother Michael Hiler and nephew Michael Hiler Jr.
A celebration of life is being planned for Spring of 2026. Details to follow.
