My works express the idea that there may be more to the subject then initially conveyed. Every subject has multiple facets; because of this the idea of discovery is also presented. My wax portraits Scent of Divinity are typically 32 to 28 inches. The scale allows for a personal encounter. This body of work uses an ancient technique of preserving images first used during biblical times in Egypt; for even in the process of creating each piece lies a sub layer of discovery between the past a present. How far have we truly come, and where are we headed? My paintings are composed of charcoal and acrylic under scented wax. The addition of scented wax aids in creating presence and personality. Each piece becomes an individual with a name and unique scent. The use of layers allows me to create depth and levels. By combining scent, abstraction and representation I attempt to hi-light the individualistic complexity and beauty of any given person. My work is created with a purpose of alluding to the underlying complexities of our world concerning human behavior/existence and aim to relate to the viewer in a personal way.
