When Men were Men and biological s*x wasn’t confusing at all (sarcasm).

19th century anatomists recognized that male and female reproductive organs arose from shared embryonic structures, but they lacked our modern understanding of chromosomes, anti-Müllerian hormone, receptors, and developmental genetics. This knowledge gap made conditions such as Masculine pseudo-hermaphroditism particularly interesting and a source of shock and wonder.

Masculine pseudo-hermaphroditism is an outdated term for a differences in s*xual development (DSD, Inters*x). A more modern anatomical description reflecting the current medical understanding is Persistent Müllerian Duct Syndrome.

As someone who teaches s*x education I’m disappointed, but not surprised at the news that is coming out of all these institutions.

Consent isn’t hard to understand. It’s not complicated. And that means this behavior is willful. Not one man stood up. Not one stepped in.

I have a lot of anger about this issue. And more to say. But for now I made some images that capture my current sentiment.

Shout these “men” down, report them, take their futures, the way they take others. Destroy their lives and do not apologize. They sure as hell won’t.

Do not let any man who behaves this way have a moments peace.

I try to make the most of Minnesota weather, no matter the season, but I find fall here to be particularly pleasant.

This mushroom decided to strut its stuff for me and my camera this morning.

In the late 1920s radioactive “health” products were sold with astonishing confidence to a public that did not grasp what they were purchasing.

Radium (in many forms) was marketed for problems such as s*xual weakness, vitality troubles, and hemorrhoids, these products claimed that small doses of radium could stimulate the body, restore vigor, and improve function.

Some ads insisted the radium would be absorbed through the re**um, travel through the bloodstream, and leave the body harmlessly within days.

In case you were wondering, none of that is true.

Scientifically, discoverer’s names are unhelpful terms. They supply no information as to location or function of the structures. Furthermore, every single one has a proper ANATOMICAL term. And that is what should be used.

Many of these men did not choose to have their names put on these parts, they were added later as tribute (by other men, which is weird).

Fun fact, you will find no parts of the body named for or by women. And that’s not because women haven’t contributed. It’s a shining example of medical bias and patriarchy written in the flesh.
