HAIR CARE INFO FOR NEW MICROLOCS

Everyone's hair is unique to the individual. These are basic care instructions. Please let me know if these instructions are seemingly not working for you.

PRIOR TO INSTALLATION:
Come with your hair thoroughly shampooed and detangled. Use a detangling shampoo. I like African Pride detangling shampoo. It's inexpensive and does the job. DO NOT use any heavy creams to comb your hair out. DO NOT blow dry. Allow your hair to air dry parted into 4 or more sections.

Installation can take 8 - 15 hours depending on the length and thickness of each individual's hair. You can schedule your appt to be split into multiple days if that works best for your schedule. Children may need their appointments split into multiple days.

AFTER INSTALLATION:
When your microtwist are completely installed I will spray them down with a water and oil mixture to reveal your natural curl pattern. Each person's curl pattern is unique to them. DO NOT expect your hair to look identical to anyone else's. Allow it to dry completely before attempting any styling. All styles should be minimally intricate to reduce frizzing and unraveling.

Be prepared to not shampoo your hair for the first 4 - 6 weeks. *Your first shampoo will be after your first retightening. Use a water based, non-detangling spray to mist your hair up to 5 times a week. Be informed that the more you mist it, the more it will shrink. If you have lock resistant hair DO NOT mist it more than 3 times a week. I will provide some options for moisture sprays, as well as anti-itch sprays.

Use a shower cap during showers for the first 3 months. Use a satin bonnet every night for the first 3-5 months. Over time, a satin pillow case will suffice if you no longer want to wear a bonnet.

Returning within 4-6 weeks is essential to the care and maintenance of your locs in the early months. Make sure you have your next retightening scheduled before you leave each appointment. Retightening can take 2 - 5hrs depending on the level of maintenance your hair needs.
