Day 3: Newport, RI

Day 3:

We rented a car in Boston and drove to Quincy, MA to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church to see where our Irish/Scottish ancestors were baptized and married generations ago. We met an amazing lady at the church, whose ancestors were baptized and married by the same Italian priest as ours.

We also stopped at Divine Mercy Parish St. Mary Church and Cemetery to see Patrick and Elizabeth Garrity, my grandfather, Hank Garrity’s, great great grandparents and the Garrity family’s burial site. We are very grateful to our son Jack, who has been extensively researching our family history this summer and our tour guide for this portion of the trip.

Much gratitude to Denver Animal Emergency
for taking care of our beloved cat, Poppy (aka Pop Tart).

Poppy suddenly became very lethargic Wednesday evening and not like herself. Her blood work was all fine, but the x-ray showed part of her intestines were very enlarged.

And so she went right into emergency surgery to remove 4” of intestinal mass. We picked her up Friday and she has been at home recovering and doing well.
