How many downtowns can say they have a business that has been in operation for 125 years? Not many, if any at all. Downtown Mooresville’s beloved D E Turner & Co Hardware can proudly state that. Jack Moore, the man behind it, sadly passed away earlier this week.

Jack always wore a smile and was ready with a story. Maybe the story was about Downtown Mooresville and what he had seen over the decades since starting at D.E. Turner at the age of 15. Maybe the story was about the original telephone (telephone #26), still in the store, and back when the “Hello Girls” had to connect a caller to their party. Jack is such a part of our community’s history and our Downtown family; it is a significant loss that will be felt for a long time.

Sending our love and condolences to the Moore Family and knowing that Jack will be sorely missed by many. Thank you for your years of hard work and dedication Jack, rest easy.
