For those of you who didn’t know, My grandmother Mickey passed away last week. When I was a little girl, I would spend hours hanging out at the beauty shop with my “Nan”. She inspired me to become a hairstylist. This week is actually my “hair-aversary” , I have been working behind the chair in her salon for 21 years.
My Nan was a business woman, and a hard worker. Most people loved her, some people disliked her, but such is life in a small town. She was invested in her community through out the years, even super involved in county politics. She really was a force. After she moved out of state last year, every time we spoke on the phone she always asked the question: “what’s new in town?” my response was always, “nothing, don’t worry, you’re not missing much.” She was a “Villager” through and through, she absolutely loved Lake Village. Her and I would not always see eye to eye when it came to running the business, but hey, what family business doesn’t go through that. She always pushed me to work hard (and may have guilt tripped me a bit, too), but to never forget “you catch more flies with honey than you do sh*t.” Lol
Things will be looking much different than they did before , but when one door closes another one opens. And, I feel deep down in my heart she’s looking down and is super proud. I am going to miss her immensely. I hope she's up in heaven enjoying her favorite- "Miller Lite with a glass of ice" again. 😂
If you have a favorite memory of her, please share- I would love to hear it! Her funeral arrangements should be posted soon.❤️
