šŸ’– Studio 46:5 & Airbrush Alcove - ANOTHER Year Later! šŸ’–

A year ago, I shared my journey of growth and change, and here we are again—another year under my belt with even bigger challenges successfully accomplished! From the first pictures a little over 3 years ago of an office building that many thought had no potential, to now—finally being able to put my personal stamp on my space (though, if you know me, you know I’m forever evolving šŸ˜‚)—I’ve grown from running my own salon to managing business rental spaces and expanding into new services like full-time spray tanning.

I’m steadfast in filling my space with quality-over-quantity clients because I know that overkill and burnout don’t equal success. I’m back to loving what I do, free of burnout, and surrounded by clients who love me for me—enjoying the space I’ve built and the community we share. I touch their hearts and minds, and I’m excited for what the future holds for all of us.

This past year, I rolled up my sleeves and tackled it all: fresh new paint, upgraded lighting, custom cabinets built with my own two hands, and custom countertops that I designed and installed. The right wall—once home to the old plumbing box (as seen in previous pics)—is now fully repaired, with the plumbing moved to the back wall to maximize space. I’m your interior decorator, painter, plumber, hairdresser—basically, whatever it takes to bring this dream to life!

I’ve used this year to build my mind, my heart, my relationships, my business, and my faith—remembering that in seasons where life is hard (and it has been HARD, ya’ll), it’s God’s timing, not mine. ā³

And though weapons may be formed against me, seemingly again and again, they will not prosper.

So If anything, seeing this memory pop up and updating this post has been a solid reminder to myself that even when the world feels like chaos, and times are dark and rough, and you are up against what feels like the world—there is so much being made in the quiet, in the patience, and in loving and enjoying the very life you’re in now. The very life you once prayed for.

So yes, even in the valleys—there is peace. These past two years haven’t been easy, but I know God has a mighty plan. So I keep loving and building with what He has blessed me with—even in the chaos.ā¤ļøā¤ļø

To my clients, past and present, you’ve been an essential part of this adventure. I couldn’t be more thankful for the connections we’ve made and the lessons learned along the way. And to those who continue to support my dream—thank you for sticking with me! šŸ’ž

Excited for what’s next! Also, oh and by the wayā€”ā€¼ļøā€¼ļøI finally updated some of the photos. Enjoy! ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„ā€¼ļøā€¼ļø

šŸ™ŒšŸ¼Shaping & Correcting Curly CutsšŸ™ŒšŸ¼

ā€¼ļøControversial but real take:
Curly haircuts and realistic before & after posts that look perfectly aesthetic just aren’t… well, realistic šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
But many asked - so here it is šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
This is what realistic before & after pics look like between me & my clients 🩷
I actually prefer my clients send me pics & feedback AFTER their hair has fully dried and been worn. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø Because let’s be real - it takes a day or two to know if we like our new curly cut sometimes. 🤪
Also- less is more when cutting curly hair- so pics can be rather ā€œboringā€ in comparison to other photos if you aren’t the client šŸ˜‚
The biggest shock to some though is the fact that I DO NOT STYLE MY CURLY CLIENTS AFTER THEIR FIRST CUT WITH ME šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø
šŸ”½
With minimal products and styling, most clients will leave with damp hair, or something similar to their routine they would use after washing it at home.

I want them to treat it how they would on a daily basis.

HEAR ME OUT!

If I fluff it up, how do you know if you like the actual cut and not just the style?
Don’t worry though! Once we customize your cut to your needs and balance past cuts and issues, then we can play around with products and styling specific to your cut and desired style at your next appointment!
I also text my clients a few days before their appointment to have them send me a picture and explain what they dislike about their hair because I know it’s gonna actually behave right when you come in and you can’t show me that one piece that always lays flatšŸ˜‚
I even allow you to come back for a touch-up within 7 days after you’ve washed and styled it yourself.
CURLY HAIR IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT BALL GAME.
So I treat it that way - and my clients love that they finally get a truly customized experience for THEIR hair.

LET’S STOP TREATING IT LIKE IT’S THE SAME AS EVERY OTHER HAIRCUT.

No one’s hair is the same - so neither are my cuts or color.
Curly-haired folks, what’s your biggest struggle with your hair? Let’s chat in the comments! šŸ’¬āœØ
