Our Story

Naturally Different is a local small business that hand crafts small batches of all natural personal care products. Our story begins on an average summer morning in 2011. My son and I were in the middle of our morning routine. I had my daily essentials on the bathroom counter including my deodorant and my son curiously reached over to investigate it. Naturally I reached over, grabbed it as quickly as possible and told him that he should not play or touch it. When he asked why I responded that it had harmful chemicals that could make him sick. He placed it back up on the counter and I continued getting ready. A few minutes later I went to apply my deodorant and my son ran up to me yelling, “Mommy, don’t put that on it will make you sick”. It was truly a wake up call for me. I promptly threw the deodorant in the trash. After a couple of days I realized that I really needed some kind of deodorant. I went searching the local stores and bought a few “healthy alternative” brands. Unfortunately, nothing was working and upon reading the labels I realized there were still unwholesome ingredients. After researching natural deodorants online, I found some recipes, gathered my supplies and made my first batch. The consistency was so far off from a cream I found it difficult to apply it. I started tweaking the recipes and after a few months, I finally perfected the deodorant I use today. At this point I was making deodorant for all my family and friends. It warmed my heart to know that I was giving them a healthy alternative to things that they use every day. From word of mouth, people began to request jars, and Naturally Different was born. Since then, I have been developing a variety of natural and healthful products to make for a more wholesome life.
