We all get caught up in social media sometimes and all the trends that follow. Not everyone’s skin is the same; nor does it react the same. What works for one person may not for the next. Every one of my clients routines are made exclusively for them and their skincare needs.

❄️ Cold Weather Necessities ❄️
Cell Protection Balm
The glow and hydrated lips you have when you leave the spa…thanks cell protection balm! Made to soothe irritated, dry, chapped skin. It is perfect to use after chemical peels and laser treatments. Contains ingredients to promote cell turnover and collagen production; what your skin needs to heal. Can also be used to help scratches and scrapes, insect bites and small burns. Mama and baby safe!
Comfort Cream
My go to moisturizer for all skin types. Contains twice as much aloe than any other moisturizer on the market to calm, soothe and hydrate irritated skin. It can be used after cosmetic treatments to reduce inflammation and heal the skin. Contains arbutin to reduce hyperpigmentation and the formation of liver spots in aging skin.

Common Acne Triggers
Birth Control: When we think about acne, hormones are always the first to blame. Hormones in birth control can cause the body to produce androgens that can lead to breakouts. If possible, opt for an estrogen dominant birth control. Along with any medication, familiarize yourself with the risks and benefits and talk to your doctor about what is right for you.
Detergents: Dryer sheets and fabric softener are known to leave a waxy-like residue on any fabric they come in contact with; this residue can clog pores in acne prone clients. Other detergents such as fragranced laundry soap may also trigger breakouts. Opt for fragrance free detergent.
Inflammatory Foods: Some people know if they eat a certain food it will cause them to breakout. Foods high in iodines such as milk, cheese, whey and soy may cause acne to flare. Androgen rich foods such as eggs, peanut butter and shellfish cause the body to increase sebum; leading to breakouts. Sugar and foods high in trans fats are also known to cause inflammation. Limiting inflammatory foods and eating foods rich in B3 and Omega-3s may lead to anti-inflammatory effects and reduce breakouts.
Cosmetics: Makeup, hair products, and lotions can contain many pore clogging ingredients. Make sure to check labels for coconut oil, cocoa butter, and sodium lauryl sulfates as they are common acne triggers along with many other ingredients. Always wash your makeup brushes regularly; clean hands are always an alternative to brushes and sponges. Applying your acne safe moisturizer to your hands before bed is another trick to avoid lotions coming into contact with your face when you sleep.

Let’s talk purging.
Purging occurs when you expose your skin to clinical products with quality active ingredients. When starting a routine I always tell my clients to trust the process, your skin will get worse before it gets better.
Acne is forming in your skin for 90 days before you even see the pimple form. These active ingredients treat the skin at a cellular level to speed up the clearing process; hence the purge. It is bringing all the acne debris to the surface quicker; speeding up the time it takes acne to emerge and heal.
