On June 19, my mom turns 82.
As far back as I can remember, I would find her Lancôme and Chanel face creams lining the bathroom counter.
She started wearing sunblock in 1974 when she began riding horses, back when it was literally called “sunblock lotion.” Two years before I was even born.
She was doing “preventative aging” long before that phrase ever existed.
She started using prescription Retin-A at 40 for breakouts, not realizing it would later go on to become one of the most studied ingredients in skin longevity.
Even now at 81, she still uses her .1% prescription Retin-A every single night, even on tropical vacations.
Today she is completely devoted to MBR, walks miles every day with her dog Ava, and still treats self care as a lifestyle instead of an occasional event.
Her favorite stores are Sephora and Cos Bar. She walks to them weekly. She reads constantly and finishes a novel every 24 to 48 hours. She never misses an issue of Vogue, Vanity Fair or Harper’s Bazaar. There is always a hardcover magazine nearby.
And in the 90s, when doctors started pulling women off HRT, she quietly crossed the border into Mexico because we lived in San Diego and continued taking care of herself anyway.
Lately she’s become fascinated by longevity medicine too. NAD+, sermorelin peptides and weekly vitamin D have become part of her routine because even now she is still curious, still learning and still evolving.
Nothing extreme.

Just decades of consistency, discipline, movement, skincare, treatments, curiosity and taking care of herself from the inside out.
