The past few weeks have been emotional in ways I wasn’t prepared for. 🤍

The love and support I’ve received from my clients has truly overwhelmed me. Every hug, every message, every “wherever you go, I’m going too” has meant more than you’ll ever know.

Closing my salon is not something I wanted to do. This wasn’t the ending I pictured.

When you pour so much of yourself into something, it becomes more than a business. That salon held so many pieces of my life. Long days, early mornings, laughter, tears, celebrations, hard conversations, friendships and so many memories made behind the chair.

And walking away from that is hard.

But these past few weeks have reminded me that the most important thing I built was never the salon itself.

It was the relationships.

Some of you have sat in my chair for YEARS. I’ve watched your families grow. You’ve watched mine grow. We’ve celebrated babies, weddings, graduations, new jobs and new chapters. We’ve cried together, laughed until our stomachs hurt and talked our way through life one hair appointment at a time.

You aren’t “just clients.” You’ve become such a special part of my life.

So while my heart is sad that this chapter is ending, it is also incredibly full.

Thank you for choosing me.
Thank you for trusting me.
Thank you for supporting me.
And most of all, thank you for reminding me that home behind the chair was never about the building. 🤍

I’m taking all of you—and all of these memories—with me into the next chapter.

Same me. Same love for what I do. Just a new chair. 🤍

If I could sit down with myself 20 years ago, there’s so much I would tell her.

But when it comes to this career, I think I’d start with this…

You don’t have to be available to everyone, all the time, to be successful.

I know right now you believe you do. You’re going to work Saturdays, stay late, come in early and squeeze in that “one more client” because you’re afraid if you say no, they’ll find someone who says yes.

For years, you’re going to believe that’s just part of being a hairstylist.

And you’re going to miss things because of it.

You’ll miss family time, games, practices, trips and those simple Saturday mornings at home because you’ll convince yourself there will always be another one.

But one day you’re going to look around and realize your kids aren’t little anymore.

And that’s when it’s going to hit you…

There aren’t unlimited Saturdays.

You don’t get those years back.

You’re still going to love this career. You’re going to build something you’re incredibly proud of, and some of the people who sit in your chair are going to become so much more than clients.

And eventually, you’re going to learn that the clients who truly love and value you—as their stylist, their friend and simply as a person—will find a way.

They’ll respect your time and your boundaries. They’ll adjust their schedules and plan ahead because they understand that you have a family and a life outside of the salon, too.

And the ones who don’t? ✌️ No hard feelings.

Not everyone is meant to stay forever, and that’s okay.

It’s going to take you a long time to understand that setting boundaries doesn’t mean you care less about your clients or your career. It just means you’ve finally realized that your life deserves a place on your schedule, too.

About 6 months ago, I finally stopped working Saturdays.

And guess what?

The business kept going. My clients adjusted. Everything was okay.

So here I am, 20+ years later, doing something that younger version of me would probably feel guilty about…

Sleeping in on a Saturday morning. Taking my time. Drinking a cup of coffee with my family. Enjoying a little self-care and having absolutely nowhere I need to rush off to.

And I don’t feel guilty anymore.

If I could tell that younger hairstylist one thing, it would be this:

Build the career. Work hard. Chase your goals. Love your clients and be damn proud of what you create.

But don’t get so busy building a successful career that you forget to build a life you actually get to enjoy.

Because one day you’ll realize success was never just a full appointment book.
