🚨 Idaho Rep Brent Crane - this just ain’t it bud.

There’s a bill trying to cut cosmetology training from 1,600 hours (which was already cut from 2,000 in 2018) to 1,000 hours. That means -> same license, less education, less real-world experience..

You don’t fix expensive schooling by lowering standards.
You don’t protect the public by rushing stylists into a chemical-based profession.
& you definitely don’t strengthen an industry by treating it like low-skill work.

& not to mention who this REALLY impacts - small towns & rural salons.
Not everyone graduates then lands in a high-level education salon with mentorship & continued training. Many stylists in small communities are expected to figure it out on their own… FAST & with next to ZERO support.

So when you lower the foundation of education, you’re setting up these rural stylists to struggle harder & clients to take bigger risks.

Behind the chair we deal with:
• strong chemicals
• scalp + skin health
• sanitation + safety
• permanent hair decisions on real ass people
That’s not something you learn fast & “figure out later” safely.

I would NOT have been ready at 1,000 hours. I was scared sh*tless at 2000! continued education & mentorship is what actually built my confidence & skill.
& if you asked any other stylist they’d most likely tell you “school barely scratched the surface” & that “repetition taught us the real sh*t.”
This isn’t being dramatic.
This is protecting clients, protecting present salon owners & future stylists. Protecting the integrity of our profession.

Cutting corners is not leadership thats fu**in laziness.
Do better for Idaho. ✂️
