From our incredible clients and beautiful transformations to the laughter, friendships, community moments, and everything in between — these past two years have given us so many reasons to smile. 🥹💗

What Entrepreneurship Has Really Taught Me… Two Years In 💕

Two years ago, I became the owner of SugaringNYC Murfreesboro.

I thought I was opening a business.

I didn’t realize I was also signing up for one of the biggest personal growth experiences of my life.

I knew entrepreneurship would be hard. I just didn’t understand how hard—or how many different ways it would challenge me.

These past two years have taught me that you can be incredibly excited about what you’re building and completely exhausted by it at the same time.

I’ve learned that being busy doesn’t necessarily mean you’re making money. Revenue can look great on paper, while payroll, rent, inventory, supplies, taxes and all the other expenses quietly remind you that sales and profit are two very different things.

I’ve learned that people will come and go.

You can train someone, invest in them, encourage them, believe in them and genuinely want them to succeed—and sometimes they will still choose to leave.

That one has been hard for me.

I’ve had to learn not to take every departure personally and to understand that not everyone who starts the journey with you is meant to finish it with you.

I’ve learned that being a good person and being a good business owner sometimes require two different decisions.

I can care about people and still have boundaries.

I can have compassion and still make difficult business decisions.

And I can say no without feeling guilty.

I’m still working on that one. 😉

I’ve also learned what it means to be the owner when the owner gets paid last.

Or, in my case, doesn’t get paid at all.

For the past two years, I’ve chosen to put money back into the business rather than pay myself. I’ve invested back into what I’m building because I believe in its future.

But while I’m waiting on that future, everyone else still needs to be paid on time.

That is a very different kind of responsibility.

Entrepreneurship has also taught me that it can be incredibly lonely.

People see the business.

They see the events, the social media posts, the celebrations, the new clients and the accomplishments.

They don’t always see the late nights.

The financial pressure.

The difficult decisions.

The disappointments.

The moments you question yourself.

Or the nights you lie awake wondering,

“Did I make the right decision?”

I’ve learned that you cannot build a business based on the expectation that your friends and family will be your customers.

And honestly, that was a humbling lesson.

Some of the people who have supported me the most have been people I didn’t even know two years ago.

Complete strangers who walked through my doors, trusted me, encouraged me, referred someone, left a review, shared a post or simply told me, “Keep going.”

Those people have meant more than they probably realize. ❤️

I’ve learned to stop comparing my journey to someone else’s.

Someone else’s business may be growing faster.

Someone else may have more employees, more clients, a bigger location or a larger following.

Good for them.

Their journey is theirs.

This one is mine.

I’ve learned that growth doesn't mean saying yes to everything.

Sometimes growth means saying no.

Sometimes it means slowing down.

Sometimes it means changing direction.

Sometimes it means admitting that something isn't working and having the courage to do something different.

And I’ve learned that I cannot carry an entire business on my back forever.

Systems matter.

Accountability matters.

Delegating matters.

Rest matters.

And asking for help doesn't make me weak.

It makes me human.

I’ve made mistakes.

Some decisions worked.

Some didn't.

Some lessons were inexpensive.

Some were really expensive.

Some people disappointed me.

Some months scared me.

And some moments made me question everything.

But then there were the moments that reminded me exactly why I started.

The client who finally felt comfortable in her own skin.

The woman who found us because of her PCOS journey.

The first-time guest who walked in nervous and walked out smiling.

The people who became regular clients.

The friendships.

The community.

The conversations.

The little victories that nobody else may ever see—but mean everything to me.

Those are the moments that keep me going.

Because somewhere along the way, I realized this business isn't just about hair removal.

It’s about people.

It’s about confidence.

It’s about self-care.

It’s about creating a space where people feel comfortable, welcomed and seen.

And maybe that's why these two years have changed me so much.

Entrepreneurship has stretched me in ways a degree, corporate career or job title never could.

It has made me stronger.

But it has also made me softer.

Wiser.

More patient.

More protective of my energy.

And much more intentional about who and what I give my time to.

Two years in, I still don't have it all figured out.

And I'm finally okay with that.

Because maybe entrepreneurship was never about having all the answers.

Maybe it's about having enough courage to keep going while you're figuring them out.

Life is hard.

Entrepreneurship is hard.

Starting over is hard.

Giving up on something you believe in is hard.

Choose your hard. 💕

Two years later…

I’m still here.

Still learning.
Still growing.
Still believing.
Still building.

And I'm incredibly proud of that.

So here's to Year 3 of SugaringNYC Murfreesboro.

Wiser. Stronger. More intentional. And still standing. 🥂💕

I don't know exactly what Year 3 will bring.

But I know one thing…

I am excited to see the future of SugaringNYC-Murfreesboro.

Here's to the next chapter.
