This might look like a simple bedtime balance challenge… but it’s actually powerful for calming the brain before sleep 🧠💤
When a child stands on one foot with eyes closed, it activates the vestibular system (balance) and proprioception (body awareness) — helping the brain relax, organize, and prepare for rest.
💡 What we look for:
If they lean or lose balance on both sides, it can signal vestibular issues or retained primitive reflexes like the Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex (TLR) — often linked to poor sleep, restlessness, and bedwetting.
Doing this for 30 seconds before bed can strengthen balance, calm the nervous system, and improve sleep quality 🌙

What you’re watching is a simple technique that taps into the Moro Reflex — one of the most powerful (and often overlooked) primitive reflexes.
When we gently hold him close and quickly dip down — just enough to simulate the sensation of falling — we’re not trying to scare him…
👶 We’re checking to see how his nervous system responds.
The Moro Reflex is a survival response that should go away as the brain matures. But when it stays active (especially in toddlers), it can cause:
⚠️ High sensitivity to sound, light, and touch
⚠️ Anxiety, clinginess, or fear of separation
⚠️ Trouble calming down or adapting to change
⚠️ Poor sleep or emotional outbursts
➡️ Doing this "drop and recover" movement allows us to test whether the reflex is still stuck — and if it is, it shows us that the brainstem needs support and regulation.
(In his case, you can see that he freezes up a bit, which means the reflex is still there and needs to be integrated/removed.)
The good news?

We’re actually working on integrating the Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex (ATNR) 🧠
This primitive reflex should naturally integrate in early childhood, but when it remains active, it can contribute to:

When you slowly turn the head from left to right while in this position, you're helping the brain practice communication between both sides of the body and both hemispheres of the brain.

You’ll also notice we’re adding a few extra layers of support:

What’s happening when we do this?
🧠 We’re testing for the Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex (TLR) & Vestibular Function.
The TLR is a primitive reflex that should disappear by early childhood. If it’s still active, it can cause:
❌ Poor balance & coordination
❌ Difficulty with focus, attention, and sitting still (ADHD symptoms!)
❌ Motion sickness or dizziness
❌ Struggles with reading & learning
❌ Clumsiness or trouble with sports
💡 Why does this test work?
Closing the eyes removes visual input, so the body has to rely on the vestibular system (balance center in the brain).
Putting the feet together reduces stability, making it easier to see if the body wobbles or falls.
Dropping the head forward challenges core strength and postural control.
If a child falls over or can’t stay still, it could mean their TLR is still active, making things like focus, coordination, and emotional regulation much harder.
🌊 This reflex is directly linked to ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and sensory struggles. If a child struggles with balance when their eyes are closed, their brain may still be stuck in an early developmental stage—affecting their ability to sit still, focus, and learn effectively.

This simple tuning fork test helps us see how quickly a child can recognize sound and respond to it.
In this case, we asked him to raise his hand as soon as he could hear the vibration.
If there’s a delay or inconsistent reaction — it could mean their auditory system isn’t processing properly.
