On Sunday at 5:33 PM we welcomed our son, Kainoah Cruz Marquez, into the world. He weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and measured 19 inches long. We are overjoyed and grateful for this special time.

I took Monday and Tuesday off to be with my family, but I’ll be back in the salon Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Next week I’ll be taking Saturday through Tuesday off to bond with Kainoah.

Wrist Injury Update from Mark - Injury Update and Next Steps

I’ve got some hard news to share with our Dime Studio family. Our owner, artistic director, and the heart of our salon—my husband Mark, was recently injured in a mountain bike accident.

He suffered a significant wrist injury and is likely facing surgery. The most difficult part? It’s his left hand—his cutting hand, his writing hand, the hand he uses to serve others every single day. I know some people might say, “He shouldn’t have been on a bike,” but the truth is, Mark pours 50 to 60 hours a week behind the chair. He gives so much of himself to his clients, to our business, to our family. His faith keeps him grounded, and his bike is his therapy. Life has risks—whether you’re on a trail, behind the wheel, or walking down the street. This just happened to be his moment.

What matters now is recovery. Mark isn’t quitting. This isn’t the end. It’s a pause—one that’s been divinely timed, especially as we prepare to welcome our baby boy this summer.

Over the next 6 to 8 weeks, he’ll be out of the chair, but not out of reach. He’s working closely with his dad Marco, our assistant, and the amazing Dime Studio team—Kiarra, Lori, Emily, Maria, and Heather—to make sure all current appointments are handled with the care and love you’re used to. He’ll be in touch directly with each of you to reschedule or reassign as needed.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you to our Dime family and to everyone who supports our little boutique salon. We feel your love, and we appreciate your prayers, patience, and loyalty more than we can express.
