Before you let anyone inject your face, ask yourself one question: “How much aesthetic training are injectors actually required to have?” The answer is shocking 😳

Doctors, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and Registered Nurses receive little to NO standardized aesthetic injector training during medical/ nursing school. Aesthetic medicine is NOT a core part of medical education.

That means injectors learn AFTER graduation through:
• Weekend courses
• Online webinars
• Shadowing
• Employer training
• Paid third-party “certification” programs

And here’s the frightening part.

There are NO state or federally standardized requirements for:
• Minimum injection hours
• Hands-on training
• Advanced anatomy competency
• National injector licensing

The aesthetic industry is primarily regulated through state medical boards, but there is no single national governing body dedicated specifically to cosmetic injectables.

The titles you constantly see advertised?
“Advanced Injector”
“Botox Certified”
“Expert Injector”

These are marketing terms — NOT standardized credentials.

Pharmaceutical manufacturers like Allergan & Galderma only require a provider to hold an eligible medical license & complete basic product 30 minute webinar training before purchasing and using products like:
• Botox
• Dysport
• Juvederm
• Restylane

There is NO mandated minimum number of injections required before treating paying patients. READ THAT AGAIN.
Injectors can legally inject patients with extremely limited to NO hands-on experience. Just because a business is called a “medical spa” does NOT automatically mean every injector has extensive training, advanced anatomy knowledge or years of experience. This industry can be incredible in the right hands. But patients deserve transparency.

ASK QUESTIONS.
• How many hours of hands-on training have you completed?
• How many years have you injected?
• How many patients do you treat weekly?
• What complication training do you have?
• What do you do in a vascular occlusion emergency?
• How many hours of continued training do you attend yearly?
