anyone who knows me or has been in my chair has heard me talk about my baby, rigatoni.

we found each other when we both needed it most. i adopted rigatoni from a rescue when i lived in oklahoma, believing he, at the time, was a senior dog and that i was giving a loving home to a baby who may not otherwise have been adopted. i quickly learned he was a lot younger than initially thought and i could not be more grateful for that extra time i got with him.

the last 7 years have been a roller coaster, we have been with each other through everything. moving states, houses, apartments, cosmetology school, community college, breakups, job changes, cars. almost my entire twenties was spent with him by my side. he has shown me what it means to love with my entire being. i often stated that i love him as much as someone loves their child, because i can not fathom loving anyone more than this. he is my whole heart outside of my body.

rigatoni came to me with a multitude of health issues, despite being younger than i thought, it is a miracle he lived this long. but i wouldn’t have had him any other way. he truly was the perfect boy. the sweetest baby i’ve ever met. every person who met him fell in love with him right away. he had a way of turning even people who didn’t think they liked dogs into dog lovers. he loved any snack in his vicinity, as long as he could figure out how to eat it with his lack of teeth, he ate it. he loved cuddling on the couch and having movie days (with popcorn, of course), and while he wasn’t fond of the amount of kisses he got when he first came home, he grew to love them.

to say my heart is shattered is an understatement. there is a huge hole now that can never be filled. but i am thankful for every moment we spent together. there was never going to be enough time with him.

with that being said, i will not be back in the salon until next week. i may be a bit slow to respond and i just ask for understanding and patience while i navigate this loss.

As many of you know, my grandfather, my papa, passed in January from ALS. He spent three years courageously battling this disease and in his honor my family and I are taking on the Walk to Defeat ALS.

We are raising money for the ALS Association to fund research towards a treatment and cure as well as help families who are currently in the situation ours was in. If you would like to help us toward our team goal, you are able to donate at the link in my bio.

Absolutely screaming because it’s been a whole YEAR since I made the move to !!!

This was definitely a leap of faith and trust and I am so grateful for everyone who has come in my chair. My regulars, my newbies, my event clients, my friends, my family, my lovely coworkers. I am beyond thankful for how you all have made the last year since moving salons such an amazing experience. I can’t wait to grow even more and see where the next year takes me!
