Today, we recognize and celebrate the remarkable leadership of our college president, Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore, as she announces her retirement. Her tenure has been defined by vision, strength, and an unwavering commitment to student success and community impact.

Under Dr. Fore’s guidance, the college has experienced tremendous growth, evolving into a strong institution that not only educates but empowers. She elevated workforce development to new heights, ensuring that thousands of students are equipped with the skills, confidence, and real-world experience needed to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.

Dr. Fore’s legacy will be felt for years to come—not only in the programs she championed and the opportunities she created, but in the lives transformed through her leadership. She has set a powerful example of what it means to lead with purpose, integrity, and vision.

We extend our deepest gratitude for her extraordinary service and wish her all the best in this next chapter. Dr. Fore’s impact is lasting, and her influence will continue to shape our college and community for generations.

Dr. Fore will continue serving as College President through July 31, 2026.

After 51 years of service, Horry-Georgetown Technical College President Dr. Marilyn “Murph” Fore has announced her retirement, effective July 31, 2026.

Since becoming president in 2017, Dr. Fore has led HGTC through significant growth, expanded academic programs, and strengthened partnerships across Horry and Georgetown counties. Her leadership has helped advance student success and workforce development throughout the region.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve this institution,” said Fore. “Together, we have made a lasting impact on the lives of our students and communities.”

Dr. Fore will continue serving as president through July 31, 2026, as HGTC begins the search for its next leader.

Teal & Tech Experience 2026 was a hit! Students from Loris, Myrtle Beach, and Conway came out to Horry-Georgetown Technical College and Coastal Carolina University to experience a day in the life of a college student.

Our current Cosmetology students demonstrated techniques in foiling, perms, makeup application, and eyebrow tweezing while visiting 8th graders had hands on experience. We love to see both the current students and the middle school kids engaged and excited about the field of Cosmetology!
