This sweet pup came to us with severe matting. While we always love leaving dogs fluffy and stylish, that simply isn’t possible when the coat is tightly matted. Mats pull on the skin with every movement, trapping moisture, dirt, and bacteria underneath. They can be extremely painful and even hide sores, infections, and parasites.

The kindest and safest option was to remove the matted coat and give this pup a fresh, comfortable start.

💙 If your dog’s coat feels tangled all the way down to the skin, please don’t wait. Regular brushing at home and routine grooming appointments help prevent painful matting and keep your pet happy and healthy.

⚠️ Matting Awareness Post ⚠️

This sweet girl came to us through the amazing team at All 4 Paws Animal Rescue, and unfortunately her coat was in such a severely matted condition that a full shave-down was the only humane option.

Matting isn’t just a cosmetic issue. Severe mats can pull tightly on the skin, trap moisture, hide sores and infections, restrict movement, and cause significant discomfort and pain. In cases like this, brushing out the coat is not only extremely uncomfortable for the dog, but can also cause injury.

While we always try to preserve as much coat as possible, the health and comfort of the dog must come first. Removing the matted coat gave her immediate relief and allows her skin and coat to start fresh.

We’re grateful to All 4 Paws Animal Rescue for giving this girl a second chance, and we’re honored to be part of her journey.
