How we came to be...

I grew up thinking I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher or a nurse. When I was eighteen years old I got a job at a nursing home and became a registered CNA. I loved that job and loved working with the elderly. To care for another person is a rewarding thing. There I thought I’d stay until I pursued my health care career to become a nurse.

My desire to care for others didn’t change. I still loved giving, but at the age of twenty I decided I wanted to change my career from being a registered CNA, where I take care of people's health, to a hair stylist where I take care of their hair, self esteem and confidence. At that time I thought I’d always work for someone else, because being a business owner was a lot of work and scary. How could I be responsible for so much and for so many other people's well being? That’s a lot of pressure... So I started out at a local walk-in chain salon. There I learned many things about myself and how I work. For this start, I’m thankful.

However, I wanted to do more. I moved to an independant salon where I could provide more services and build stronger relationships with regular clients. This was my place. After working there for 12 years the opportunity of opening my own hair salon became an option. Yes I was still scared but excited to take that step and open Rumours Hair Design. How can we grow if we don’t move out of our comfort zone, right? I decided to take the leap and give a shot at being the best hair salon in Nampa. What did I have to lose?

It’s been almost thirteen years since I took that leap of faith. I’ve had challenges but it’s helped me grow as a person and a business owner. The decision to take the leap has been a good one. We now have a fabulous team of six hairdressers, two nail technicians and an aesthetician. We offer womens haircuts, kids haircuts, mens haircuts, all color techniques, permanent waves, acrylic nails, gel nails, manicures, pedicures, facials, dermaplane, chemical peels, eyebrow waxing, lip waxing, bikini waxing, brazilian waxing, body waxing, eyelash extensions and permanent makeup.
