The start of a new era

If you’ve been following me for some time now, you might have noticed that my handle has changed…

Back in 2020, I defined my brand as a blonde specialist with the handle “the modern blonde stylist” and while at the time it was great for recognition, I feel like I have outgrown it.

I don’t want to feel limited as a stylist to what looks I can create for the guest who gets to sit in my chair and while blonding will always be in my field of expertise, I also co-design dimensional brunettes, fiery reds, and blend out incoming grays for a customized look that is unique to you and your hair.

Same stylist. Same Ethos. But the next time you get a compliment on your haircut, color, or extensions, tell them “(Mic)aela K does my hair” 💋🫶🏻

When you sit in my chair, this is your time to relax and recharge, socialize, or get some work done — totally up to you!

You will leave feeling beautiful, refreshed, and ready to take on the world with hair that makes you feel like the best version of yourself 💜

See you soon 🫶🏻

Would you believe it if I told you that these photos were taken 16 weeks apart?

Soft grow out for healthy gray blended blonding so you can enjoy more life in between salon visits

Would you believe me if I told you that both of these wefts started at 18 inches long?
It’s true - same length, quality, and color

So what happened?

Simple! Extensions are REAL hair and act as such.
They break, split, fade, and wear just like our natural hair does. The only difference is that it doesn’t regrow once it has been trimmed and over time, the extension hair gets shorter and shorter the longer it has been lived in.

This is why new hair should be purchased every 9-12 months (depending on how well the hair is taken care of) - the hair on the right was worn for over a year and a half, but we decided to get new hair because my guest missed her length.

Want to know the best ways to take care of your extensions?
I’ll tell you!

-Color-safe shampoo & conditioners, of course. Plus a hair masque to use every once every other week
-Hair oil to keep ends moisturized
-Heat protectant, always!!! (turn those hot tools
DOWN)
-Water filter for your shower to protect the color of your extensions (my favorite is linked in my bio)
-Silk/satin pillow case
-Keeping your hair and extensions away from chlorine, self tanner, and sunscreen with Avobenzone (only use mineral sunscreens)

(If getting a spray tan or using self tanner make sure to put all of your extensions up and inside of a shower cap to protect any color transfer that could happen)

Was this helpful? Do you have any other questions? Let me know, I’d love to help answer them!

The year was 2016 and it was an eventful year to say the least

This spring will mark 10 years that I’ve been a licensed beauty professional and I can’t help but reminisce on how far I’ve come and all I’ve experienced in my career thus far.

I graduated high school in 2015 and started cosmetology school about 2 months after, leading me to graduate and take the state board exam in the spring of 2016. From there, I started taking summer classes towards my Associate’s degree and registered for esthetician school in the fall.

By the end of 2017, I was graduating college with my Associate’s degree along with licenses in Cosmetology and Esthetics as well as working 3 days in a salon as a Stylist Assistant getting ready for my next step - moving to the suburbs of Chicago, IL

It’s been a long and crazy ride, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything else 💜

And that’s a wrap on 2025 ✨

For me, the past few years have flown by, but this year was super eventful:

• I got to travel to both the beach and mountains for my dear friends wedding
• I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane and went skydiving
• I ran a marathon
• I got more involved with my community by volunteering with youth ministry at my church
• I took an adults gymnastics course for 6 months and was ok to not be good at something immediately

What are some things you got to accomplish this year and are looking forward to doing in 2026?

One of the hottest trends I’ve seen this year is more women embracing their natural color by opting for gray blending over gray coverage

What is gray blending and how can I make it work for your hair?

As our hair grows in more gray, we have 3 options:

🩶 cover it (opaque permanent color - maintenance every 4-6 weeks)

🩶 blend it (camouflaging demi-permanent color and/or highlights - maintenance every 8-16 weeks)

🩶 embrace it (leave it as is and let it grow out, which is ideal for some but not all)

Gray blending is customizable because depending on your current hair and the dream hair you want, it can be as simple as using a gloss or adding in some highlights to blend the grays into the color for a seamless grow out!

Don’t know what to do about your grays? Send me a message and we can come up with a game plan that will work best for you and your hair’s needs!
