Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned, and you’re forced to pivot. Mr. Rogers once said, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” I never imagined just how true those words would become to me.
Six months ago, during the final hour of moving into our new building, we realized we couldn’t operate out of our new location. We called Stephanie and Bebo at Blends, hoping they might have space for us to work-for what we thought would be two weeks.
Without a second thought, they said yes.
They cleared out their entire waiting room so we could continue serving our clients. Two weeks quickly became one month... and somehow one month became almost six.
These past six months have taught me so much about patience, resilience, and, most importantly, that there are still incredible people in this industry who genuinely want to see others succeed.
While I wasn’t a stranger to the guys at the barbershop- Gio (my husband) and Bebo have been friends longer than I’ve even been around- I had never really gotten to know everyone there. What I found was exactly what Stephanie and Bebo had created: a place built on family, kindness, loyalty, and generosity. Every single person welcomed me as if I’d always been part of their little work family.
Looking back, I truly believe this whole experience was a form of divine intervention. What started as an unexpected setback became one of the biggest blessings. It reminded me that even when life doesn’t go according to plan, it has a way of placing the right people in your path exactly when you need them.
Just like every good TV show (especially Mr. Roger’s), every episode has an ending. This ending is the extremely bittersweet. Although this chapter lasted much longer than I ever expected, somehow it also feels like it went by in the blink of an eye. As I finally continue on the path originally planned, I’m leaving a little piece of my heart behind at Blends.
To Stephanie, Bebo, and everyone at Blends—thank you. Thank you for opening your doors, thank you for treating me like family. I will never forget what you did for me, and I will always be grateful for every single one of you.
