Conversations around what it’s like to live fully in a world where we’ve become accustomed to shut parts of ourselves Therapy is for all of us.

My hope is that this podcast becomes a way to jumpstart conversations that are meaningful, in order to help others feel less alone & create a deeper understanding of oneself & others. And more importantly, I hope more & more humans start to realize that therapy isn’t reserved for people who have something “wrong” with them. You may not want it, but the truth is, You Need Therapy.

I made a cute cozy podcast room so I could create cute fun content for socials and then I learned that creating content for socials is really overwhelming for me. Anyone relate??

I keep finding myself in conversations where the tension between feeding the algorithm and feeding our own lives clashes… and the tension can be so so so heavy. So heavy it takes all the attention away from the stuff I actually care about.

So what do we do when the machine rewards those who choose productivity over authenticity? Especially when the reward often feels like a means of surviving or not. I don’t know the answer. And I actually don’t know if there is a true answer. And I also am laughing at the irony of me posting this on social media. But who knows maybe the algorithm will just hide this anyway. 🤣🤣🤣

I suppose this is my reminder to myself and anyone who needs it to not let the pressure of social media success steal joy from the actual work you do. I’m going to go record a podcast now, cameras off. 😎

Is it weird to have a *favorite* cognitive bias?

Here are some of the ways our brain does it’s own kind of mental gymnastics in order to make sense of all the wild, crazy, and overflowing amounts of information we are hit with every single day.

You can learn more about these PLUSSSS MORE (have you heard of the IKEA effect? Ever wonder why cake seems like it tastes better when it’s made from scratch?) in ’s latest book: The Age of Magical Overthinking and on this week’s Monday episode of You Need Therapy!

I don’t know which of you need to hear this—

Instead of going above and beyond, strive for below and within range.

When a woman said this at a recent training, I wanted to give her a hug. What a freaking freeing invitation.

Maybe you struggle with questions about your worth like this listener- here are some words for you from this week’s Couch Talks. Below and within range my friends! 💥

Sometimes, Instagram is real.

Sometimes, it’s not.

Sometimes, it’s real and it’s still not the whole story.

You can spill your guts online or only post the celebrations. Either way, we get to choose how we use this space in a way that works for us and is in line with our individual values.

If vulnerability is a part of your values, consider ’s definition.

The uncertainty, the risk, and the emotions involved with being vulnerable online might not be aligned with where you are in your mental/emotional/social health journey. So take care of yourself wherever you are at! Trends come and go - but social media will always be a mixture of fake, real, and half-told stories. It’s completely up to you for how you want to tell yours.

Who’s seen the “Instagram Isn’t Real” trend 🙋🏽‍♀️

It got me thinking - sometimes Instagram isn’t real, and sometimes attempts at online vulnerability aren’t real either. Sometimes, vulnerability on social media stems from a desire for validation rather than genuine connection.

Here is your invitation to take a second look at the trend you’ve seen all over Instagram - not for the sake of calling people out, but for the sake of drawing you in to pay more attention to your own intentions and actions.

Pull up a chair and take a second look with me 🎧

^^When the Couch Talks question becomes a whole episode - there’s a lot to the idea of deconstruction, and this week returns to de•con•struct what this phrase really means and what it is not.

This is a topic that could bring up some hard feelings no matter what side of the conversation you find yourself on! You know what we say? Let the hard feelings exist, but with openness and curiosity to why they might be there.

Whether you find yourself somewhere in the process of deconstruction or you are a loved one of someone who is deconstructing, we hope this episode can encourage empathy and compassion - for yourself and others 💛
