things I learned from the ice storm that shut down my city:
❄️ nothing really matters if you’re freezing to death. the small things I was worried about completely vanished when I was concerned about my friends making it through the night without getting hypothermia or carbon monoxide poisoning.
❄️ let your people take care of you. this week was a crash course in accepting help from friends. I like to be independent and do everything on my own, but that just wasn’t possible this week. I came to my friends’ house on friday night, my house lost power saturday morning, and seven days later I’m still in their guest room. leaving pink accessories all over their house and drinking all their coffee. I quite literally wouldn’t be alive without help from my friends.
❄️ magic happens in stillness and uncertainty. my bff katie came over to the house after girl scouting and girl bossing without power and iced in her house for four days. while the boys are at work at the hospital, we’ve been having life-changing conversations and mapping out ways to elevate our businesses in a massive way. but for being forced into this retreat-style pressure cooker, we would’ve missed out on all this expansion.
