Aging face/Facing age

Friends often ask if I ever take this glorious view for granted. That would be a no.🙅🏻‍♀️ This view is from the eighth floor pool area of my building. The view from my living room is similar, only 20 floors higher. Every morning when I walk out from the bedroom into the kitchen/living room area, I’m grateful. It’s a great way to start the day. The building you see behind me is our iconic “Batman Building” - officially the AT&T building. After 35 years of suburban living, my husband and I moved downtown two and a half years ago. We LOVE Nashville downtown living! It’s not everybody, but it’s for us! Have a great Tuesday, y’all!

Okay, wig fam - we already know cap size matters, but why are we sleeping on NECK LENGTH?! Neck length is the underrated factor that completely changes how a wig looks on YOU. This gorgeous style? It’s more of a long bob on me (I have a slightly longer neck….tho it’s hard to tell these days with my aging neck! 😂🤦🏻‍♀️😭) On someone with a shorter neck? It’s going to look completely different! I’ve seen a number of photos where this looks like a straight-up long hairstyle. There’s no right or wrong….its a beautiful wig no matter where it hits!! This is just to say - your perfect wig fit is about MORE than the cap. Think about your neck length!

Now, about this wig! This is the beautiful JACKSON by .wigs in Sugar Cane R. This is a very different wig purchase for me. First of all, it’s straight hair. I almost never wear straight hair. Secondly, it’s blonde! And even though I have several blonde wigs now, it’s still a little outside my comfort zone, but I gotta tell you – I think I have found MY blonde! Jackson by Noriko is a voluminous, layered s**g, that to me, looks very retro! And don’t lose your cookies over this…but she’s got some permatease! In my opinion, it’s really what makes this wig such a stunner and what helps to hold the style!

This is HOLLIS by in R12/26CH, a light brown with chunky golden blonde highlights. She’s such a cutie! I am in love with these s**ggy choppy layers and wispy bangs, and in case you haven’t noticed, I like my hair a little on the messy side!! 🤗

About this color - blondes are new to me. A dark brunette for most of my life before turning silver, I just couldn’t have imagined being a blonde. But I think this color is especially beautiful and so natural looking with its darker root. And another thing, I could have never worn this top with my silver hair. I tried it. Despite my darker complexion….it just didn’t work. But with this gorgeous color? Well, I believe it does!!

Other reasons I love her:

I love the heat defiant fibers. I wore Hollis straight outta the box, but I love knowing it’s an option if I want to do a little restyling! It has a wide monofilament top which creates the appearance of natural hair growth and allows you to part the hair in any direction!!

This little darling, MARGO, is back from her spa day and looking better than ever!! My goodness, she’s easy to wear! Great for everyday, great for a night on the town, and great for a quick 🚗! She’s Margo in Tres Chocolate by !! 🙌

Folks - Rachel by is an absolutely stunning wig! 🫶 I’ve been itching to try a 100% hand-tied wig, which is one of the reasons I ordered her, and let me tell you….I get why the hand-tied wigs are so loved!

Rachel is 100% hand-tied and completely hand-knotted - and it’s the reason it moves so naturally. Just like my own hair! And can we talk about this hairline? The SmartLace front is nearly invisible and so natural-looking! And even though I have the bang down a little more on my forehead in these photos, I know I would feel comfortable wearing it off my face. The monofilament top is the icing on the cake as it allows multidirectional styling and looks like natural hair growth. It truly looks and feels like natural hair.

I want to tell you something about these photos. We all know how different hair color can look depending on the light. Even my bio hair is that way. I can go from looking like a blonde to a brunette with grey highlights with just a quarter turn. But this shade! Scroll through the photos. I have photographed Rachel in every light and she looks the same in all of them! Some of the photos are warm, while others are cool - but this shade looks the same!!

You’re not going to believe this, but we didn’t plan these matching outfits 😂 He walked out in those shorts and that top, and I nearly lost it. I was just hoping we could keep him still long enough for a few photos, but he was totally into it!! Somehow I packed almost the exact same outfit for the beach without even realizing it… definitely meant to be ☀️🌊

One of my favorite places to shop is a darling little boutique just steps from my front door (dangerous!!), Often, the window displays look like they were designed for a weekend bachelorette party or 22 year olds on Spring Break. 😎

Rompers. Little halter tops. Crop tops and bustiers.

And honestly? For a long time would’ve kept me from walking in.

But here’s what I’ve learned: don’t let the window decide for you!!

Once you go inside, you may find there’s far more that works for you than you expected. Maybe not everything. Maybe not even half. But enough.

I can probably wear about 20% of what’s in the store—and I happily shop there all the time. (And believe me, 20% is way more than plenty!!)

The best part? Their stylists get it. They never try to make me dress younger. They help me find pieces that feel like me—comfortable, current, fun, and wearable.

So if there’s a store you’ve been intimidated to walk into because you think you’re “too old” for it… go in anyway.

You might be surprised what’s waiting past the window display 🤍

BTW - I bought this beautiful ensemble for my youngest daughter for Mother’s Day. I tried it on as a way to gauge what size to buy for her. As soon as I got it on, I knew I had to have it. I haven’t told her we have matching outfits yet!! 😂🙏🫪❤️
