Hey babes are you ready?

About a week ago, with all of the excitement on social media surrounding Black-owned nail salons, I found myself feeling a different kind of anxiety about my business. While I was grateful for the attention, I also wanted to protect the peaceful environment we’ve worked so hard to create for both our clients and our team.

So…boom.

I decided to take a walk-in.

Yes, me the owner of Inside the Nail Bar, with a fully booked schedule because I always want to lead by example and I had a cancellation.

A what appeared to be sweet young lady came in. I walked her through her polish options, gel or regular, completed her pedicure with a beautiful gel French finish, let her take pictures of her toes…then she walked to the front to pay.

And walked right out the door.

What makes it even crazier is that just before she came in, I had told another client that chaos of walk-ins made me a little nervous. Then this happened.

I’m not going to lie… it shook me.

But I refuse to let one bad experience ruin what I know can be a beautiful experience for so many others.

I didn’t make a scene. I didn’t tell my next client. I didn’t tell my staff or my family. Instead, I went to the park, took a walk, and talked to God.

I’m only sharing this now because I want to be transparent.

In four years of owning this salon at this location, this has never happened. I also don’t want this to become a trend.

I don’t know what someone’s previous salon experiences may have been, but I want people to know that negativity is not what we’re building here.

Inside the Nail Bar is a Black woman-owned business that proudly serves and employs people of all races. We value peace, professionalism, and quality service above everything else.
