Doing the correct prep for your hair can make the BIGGEST difference in how smoothly your wedding morning runs!

Here’s what I want ALL of my brides (& bridal parties) to know about prepping their hair for their wedding-day style. ⬇️

• SHOW UP WITH CLEAN, DRY HAIR: As a bridal stylist, I will always add the products I need and “dirty” the hair myself. What I can’t work with is hair that hasn’t been shampooed in 3 days and is slick with oil and hairspray. PLEASE wash your hair before we get there! Double shampoo, condition, use a lightweight heat protectant, and blow-dry your hair 100% dry.

• SMOOTH, BUT SKIP THE FLAT IRON: Unless specified otherwise (like if we’re using your natural texture in your style), please show up with your hair as smooth as possible without flat ironing. Having to straighten very curly hair before we can even begin styling can eat into the timeline. Too much heat can also leave the finished style looking dry or affect how well it lasts.

• SKIP THE HEAVY PRODUCTS: Avoid heavy oils, masks, creams and hairspray before your appointment. Too much product can weigh the hair down and affect how well your curls and style hold.

• WEARING CLIP-IN EXTENSIONS? Make sure they’re clean, completely dry, detangled and ready for us to work with.

• HAVE YOUR INSPO READY—BUT BE OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS: What’s realistic for your hair can depend on your hair type, texture, density and length. If you’re worried about whether a style will work for you, look for photos or videos of people with hair similar to yours! AI photos can absolutely be used for inspiration, but remember: hair in real life does not behave or look like that. 🫣

• WEATHER MATTERS: Weather can make or break a style. No matter how well your hair normally holds a curl, rain and humidity can change the game. If you need your hair to HOLD in those conditions, sometimes that means more teasing, more hairspray and NO TOUCHY! 😂
