Stasy’s Heart Journey 3.0

Wow! Coming up on a year that I had my evaluation for heart transplant. December 25 with be a year ago that I “temporarily “ moved to Nashville and I’ve been on the list for a year December 29th. Thank goodness I don’t have to repeat the entire transplant evaluation! I appreciate that my caregiver can be on the telehealth appointments from Michigan too! Although we do go over the rules and education a lot on our own.
I just had another Lvad/transplant appointment last week. My labs look great. The liver and kidneys seem to be behaving themselves! I’ve been avoiding any sugar and concentrate on a protein and ferments the last couple weeks. Inflammation is still kind of an issue but as of this morning, I dropped 5 lbs. I gained 10 since I relocated so I was concerned. My main concern was my A1C showed up at 6.3! I’m typically 5.4-5.7. I did a deep dive and still learning about visceral fat. Honestly, what Dr. O’Mara talks about has made total sense with my experiences. I already fast 16-18 hours daily so it is easy to transition into a protein and ferment ( I’m trying hard to like kimchi for a variety 😆 but love sauerkraut). My sweet tooth is starting to go away but I do drink a blended coffee with coconut milk, primal kitchen chocolate collagen powder, and almond & vanilla extract.
That’s it for updates! Well, almost! We are making arrangements for Todd and his team from Berry T bags/purses to come to Nashville to interview me for their mission to reach as many people possible about the importance of organ donation. They will share my story. I’m excited for it because I really would like to speak or write about this after I recover. I would like to develop something to reach people about the importance of health, organ donation, and to help people navigate the health care system. I strongly feel God gives us trials to find purpose. I’m still waiting to hear if I have to do desensitization again or if non viable but matching offers are still coming through. I will keep updates coming if I hear back on that subject!

Lvad check up. Just seeing a nurse practitioner today. I learned that I need to schedule on Thursdays to see one of the doctors. I hope she can answer my list of questions today.
This is a diagram of where Vandy typically gets organs from. But I do know that occasionally they go outside of the perimeter. Like one time they flew to Alaska for a heart!
