Benji has only been to three lessons this week, and he’s almost floating on his own. We are so proud of him! ❤️

EEG follow up results on Wednesday were amazing! We are seizure free since 2020. These appointments are never easy, but they do get easier. The first time I watched them wrap his head, I couldn’t bear it. Ben had to come in and take over. That was in March 2020. He was only 10 months old. How far we’ve come! He’s singing along with almost every song and his ABCs (all day long 😂), repeating our words and almost running now.

I’ve never shared anything like this on a public forum before because I was afraid people, including friends and family, would put him into a box and that’s all he would be. Honestly, I’m over that type of thinking. It doesn’t matter. If you truly know him, you know he’s a champion and a warrior. He can take a hit and keep on going. Mountains are mole hills to this kid. I envy him at times.

I want this page to celebrate Benji, those like him, and the trauma recovery process.
May is pediatric stroke awareness month, and we will be celebrating! 💜 Happy Friday, y’all. We’re planning on going to the beach! 🏝️😃

The journey through our firstborn son’s disability has been an awakening.

A monumental shift in my brain chemistry.

I’m not the same person I was four years ago.

I love a boy named Benji 👦🏼. A brilliant, pediatric stroke warrior 💪🏻. Funny and charming. Impatient and headstrong. Braver than the sun.

I started this page as a therapeutic way of release.

But honestly, this page is for anyone who has ever felt left out, different, alone or overwhelmed.

It will especially resonate with those who have experienced disability.

Welcome to the fold, friend 😊.

Benji’s class participated in a Young Athletes Special Olympics event today, and I needed to write something.

“An Ode to Benji”

The sweetest grin,
The cutest face,
A one armed hug,
A squealing embrace

The need to know,
To understand

Anything to see you happy,
To help you make a friend

Venture into your mind,
Take the world in kind

This beautiful boy of mine.
