Beau Cheveux Salon

Well, it’s been in the making for quite sometime but I finally turned the keys over to the landlords and had the sign removed this weekend. Nearly a year of travel back and forth from our new home in Austin, and 10 years of daily travel from Mont Belvieu before we moved passed in the blink of an eye. I couldn’t have done any of this past year without Jeremy AKA Mr. Beau Cheveux, who traveled every weekend with me, worked remotely in the facial room, cleaned every Sunday, and acted as my driver this entire last year. If there’s one thing I learned through the trials of this past year and a half it’s that God gave me the best husband who really jumped in with me and was my helpmate every step of the way. Nobody could believe the level of devotion he showed up with when the proverbial s**t hit the fan, but he never left my side. Thank you, babe. You’re the wind beneath my wings for real.

As for my coworkers past and present, working with some of your best friends for nearly 24 years is a fantasy most people don’t get to live out, but I sure did and I’m very thankful. You guys stuck it out through a lot of crazy times that none of us saw on our bingo cards, but we made it to the finish line. You know I’ll be seeing all of you again so if you thought you were rid of me, jokes on you. I tried to tag all of you but for some reason I couldn’t find some of you, Charlotte Martinez and Sherry Mills just to name a couple. I know you guys retired, but you never really left so you get to share credit for our joint success as well. Love you both so much!

Most of my clients have been with me no less than 10 years with at least a dozen more than 20, and even if you only came into Beau Cheveux once I hope you felt welcomed and valued because you were. Thank you for supporting us and loving us and helping me continue the dream that Sherry and I started out with waaaaaaay back in 2008. You helped us feed our families, clothe and educate them, and Lord only knows how many fundraisers for their schools you supported. You’ve all been like family and we’ve seen each other through many seasons of life, good and bad, and we’ve cried together as much as we’ve laughed……whew and did we ever laugh! We love you all and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your years of loyalty and patronage, especially those of you that crammed yourselves into my limited schedule this past year even when pickings were slim and inconvenient. Even when it was 7 am availability after a Friday night lights football game that went too long, you were there for me and I hope you know I was there because I love you. Moving on to “bigger and better” isn’t the case for me, because there will never be bigger or better than the friends I’ve made in 24 years behind my chair. Some of the people I’m closest to in this world I met with a color brush in my hand, and you’re my extended family. Some of you I’ll continue to see when I come in once a month, but I know I can’t see everyone in one weekend a month. I have a short list of recommendations that I’ve put a lot of thought into because for me I’m handing over family and I know what you’re worth, so if you need it please feel free to reach out to me. These women/men have been in business as long as I have and though I know you’ll NEVER find another me out there (I’m afraid they broke the mold 😉) I know these stylists will give you a great service and make you very happy. They’ve all been notified that if I come back for any reason they’ll just have to let you go because you were mine first, and those are the rules of engagement.

To the VanOostrom family, I can’t even begin to tell you how much you stepped up for me this year. I truly think I would’ve let it go early if it hadn’t been for your generosity in allowing Jeremy and I to use your moms home every weekend. It gave us a home base that was right around the corner from the salon and truly made the back and forth tolerable. I love you, ladies.

I dug around for pics but 15 years of memories in one place with so many people was hard to unearth in about 20k pics on this phone, so feel free to tag or post any that you have. I’ll just wrap it up with a pic of where it started and ended, Sherry and Me. Everyone should have a friendship as nourishing and sustaining as ours. I hope you’ll all keep in touch from time to time and I plan on keeping track of you as well.
