So many brides think wedding makeup is all about the skill of the artist. But what they don't realize is how important it is to properly prep their skin beforehand.

As a makeup artist, it's hard to explain to a bride on their wedding day that the reason their makeup doesn't look as flawless as their inspo pic, is because they didn't take the proper precautions beforehand.

It may not seem like a lot, but these small changes can make all the difference!

Looking effortless doesn't always mean we aren't putting on any makeup. It's about being strategic and using the right products+ light layers to create the perfect natural finish. Here's a breakdown for the perfect "no makeup- makeup" look:

Face: Using creams, contouring under foundation will give a more naturally defined look. Use a light to medium coverage foundation and add in a liquid hilighter into the foundation before applying to give a soft, dewy finish

Eyes: Using soft mattes and sticking to an undertone that matches the skin, lightly contour the eyes and follow the natural shape of the eye. Use a brown pencil liner and smudge out a soft wing to lift the eyes and accentuate the cat eye effect that the lashes give.

Brows: Less is more. Start with a clear brow pomade to shape them up, then using a tinted brow gel to lightly groom them back down to add color without them looking filled in. If there are sparse areas, only fill in what needs it and blend softly.

Lips: Find a brown liner that matches the natural undertone to define the shape and add a soft pink gloss on top to blend and soften the lip color to appear polished and effortless!

Which service is best for you?

Brows can be a confusing topic these days, with so many options to choose from. The good news is- there is something for everyone!

✨Nano Brows✨
Great for anyone looking for a more permanent, low maintenance option. This is great for oily/aging skin especially, but this technique looks and heals well on any skin type! With any permanent makeup, for new clients it is recommended to have 2 appointments for best results. After that, I tell my clients they can wait up to two years (sometimes more!) in between touchups!

✨Microblading ✨
Similar to Nano, this is also a more permanent option, although it heals best on normal/ dry skin types and anyone with good skin elasticity, so age group of 20s-40s usually heal best. Everyone is different though, so if you're not sure, let's chat and determine if it's best for you! After your two appointments, this should also last about 2 years in between appointments.

✨Brow Lam+ Tint✨
This option is great for anyone who wants a non permanent option to give their brows a fluffier and more bold appearance. It's especially great for anyone with wirey, coarse brow hair as it helps relax the brow hairs so they are easier to style everyday. Results last 4-6 weeks so it's great for anyone who wants less maintenance every day, but still something low commitment

✨Brow Tint+ Wax✨
This is great for anyone who wants the filled in, defined brow look without the long term commitment. And honestly, it's a staple for a lot of my clients! It's great for vacations, special occasions, and the every day spruce up! The stain on the skin lasts about a week and the tint on the hair last 4-6 weeks, which makes it great for anyone who wants a more bold brow without anything too permanent!

As much as we like to think the healing for permanent makeup services is a no brainer, there are a few rules I often repeat multiple times before my client leaves to make sure they follow directions. Each service may have a slightly different variation depending on what you get done, but here are a few to keep in mind, regardless of the area you're getting tattooed! If you want to protect your investment, follow the aftercare instructions and you'll have better healed results 💜

Here's what will happen if you take your artist's advice on cleansing your lashes daily:

✨ Better Hygiene: Good lash hygiene prevents the build up of dirt and oils, thus preventing bacteria that harbors unwanted eye conditions like lash mites and blepharitis

✨ Better retention: Makeup and dirt buildup can put weight on your natural lashes, causing them to fall out prematurely. With consistent cleansing, your lash extensions will retain better and stay fuller between fills.

✨Better results: When makeup and natural oils from your lashes don’t get cleaned regularly, those beautiful fluffy fans will close, causing your lashes to look sad and sparse.

✨Protect your investment! You spent your hard earned money on something that makes you feel beautiful everyday. Treat your lashes well and they’ll continue to give you that extra boost of confidence when you look in the mirror!
