Barbering is not just a passion, it is an art form that requires skill and precision.

Old school barbers are masters of their trade, honing their skills through years of practice and dedication.

✂️ BARBERS — I’M LOOKING FOR YOU.
(Or Cosmologist/ Hairdresser well rounded in men’s cuts ready to train for shaving)

I’m looking to add licensed barbers to my shop in Neosho, MO, and I’m not looking for people to come sit around hoping clients walk through the door. We have clients. A LOT of them.

We’re getting calls, walk-ins, appointment requests, and referrals that I simply cannot keep up with by myself. I’m regularly having to turn people away because there aren’t enough licensed barbers available to take care of them.

That means if you’re a barber looking for a place where you can actually stay busy, build your clientele, make money, and grow, this could be a really good opportunity.

I’m especially interested in barbers who are:
• Licensed and ready to work
• Motivated to build a career, not just punch a clock
• Great with people
• Serious about their craft
• Looking for a shop where they can grow

And if you’re newer to the industry, don’t count yourself out. I’m willing to help the right barber develop their skills, clientele, and confidence behind the chair.

You don’t need to already know me.
You don’t need to have a huge clientele.
You just need to be good at what you do, willing to work, and the right fit for the shop.

If you’re a barber in the Neosho/Joplin/Seneca/Carthage area and you’ve been thinking about making a change — message me your portfolio/ resume🤟

I’d rather have a conversation and see if we’re a good fit than have you wonder whether you should’ve reached out.

There’s something I want people to know about our shop:

You don’t have to be a certain kind of person to belong here.

You can dress however you dress.
Believe whatever you believe.
Come from anywhere.
Have different needs.
Be loud, quiet, nervous, talkative, particular, or somewhere in between.

You’re welcome here.

We’re not here to judge you. We’re here to cut your hair, take care of you, and give you an experience that makes you feel good about spending your hard-earned money with a local business.

Because at the end of the day, we’re grateful you chose our chair.

And now we’re looking for someone who understands that.

We’re hiring a barber or cosmetologist who doesn’t just want to cut hair — we want someone who knows how to hold space for people.

Someone kind. Patient. Respectful. Adaptable. Someone who understands that the person in their chair is more important than the haircut on the cape.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to meet you.

Not every person experiences a haircut the same way. ❤️

For some people, the noise, clippers, cape, lights, touching, or simply sitting in a busy barbershop can be overwhelming.

That’s why we offer sensory-friendly haircuts at Challes’ Old School Barbering. No judgment. No rushing. Breaks are okay. You can choose your cape, your environment, and what makes you comfortable.

Because everyone deserves a good haircut — and everyone deserves to feel safe getting one.

And honestly… we need another barber who believes that too.

We’re looking for a dedicated barber who wants to build a real career, grow their skills, take care of their clients, and be part of a shop that actually cares about the people sitting in our chairs.

If you’re the kind of barber who thinks a great haircut is about more than just the cut, we’d love to meet you.

SHOP UPDATE

Challes’ Old School Barbering will be closed today. Challes is still at KU ER in Kansas City being treated for a severe endometriosis flare.

We’re so sorry for the last-minute closure and any inconvenience this may cause. We’ll be reaching out to everyone scheduled today to get you rescheduled for Sunday or Monday.

And a huge thank you to our community for all of the love, messages, and well wishes you’ve sent Challes. It truly means so much to us and our family. ❤️

Thank you for being so supportive while Challes takes care of herself. 🫶

SOME PEOPLE COME INTO YOUR LIFE AND NEVER REALLY LEAVE. ❤️

This saddle chair was given to me by my teacher after she retired.

I was talking to her one day about needing to buy one because my endometriosis had gotten to the point where I needed to work sitting down.

She wouldn’t let me buy one.

She gave me hers.

No questions. No asking for anything in return.

Just, “Here. You need it.” ❤️

And if you knew her, you’d know that’s exactly who she is.

She wasn’t just my teacher in school.

She was my savior during that time.

She taught me how to actually work in this industry, how to care about the people in my chair, and what it really takes to build a career doing something you love.

And now I’m giving her old saddle chair a little makeover. 🪑✨

Every time I sit in it, I get to remember the woman who helped teach me how to do what I do today.

Some teachers teach you a trade.
The really special ones help change your life.

She’s one of the best. ❤️

If you ever had a teacher who made a difference in your life, tag them. 👇

There’s just something about sharpening a pair of shears that just slows everything down.

No rushing.
No shortcuts.
Just the old-school process of taking care of the tools you use every day.

There’s something almost therapeutic about it. 🖤

Anybody else find old-school craftsmanship oddly satisfying? 👇

Y’ALL. I FOUND THE CHAIR. 😂🪑

Not just a chair…

THE chair.

The one I used to cut hair out of my living room before Challes’ Old School Barbering was even a shop.

I’m giving her a makeover and she’s not quite finished yet… but I couldn’t wait to show y’all. 😂

Looking at this chair now has me like…

HOW IN THE HELL DID WE GET FROM THIS… TO WHERE WE ARE NOW?! ❤️

I know some of y’all remember these days.

👇 WHO ACTUALLY GOT A HAIRCUT IN THIS CHAIR?!

Drop your story below because I wanna see who remembers where it all started. 😂❤️
