I took a phone call this morning from a customer who did a TCA 20 peel and woke up with skin that looked bruised and dark brown. I immediately asked his Fitzpatrick skin type (he was a 5), and asked if he pre-treated with a melanin inhibitor. His response? "I didn't have time for that."

Please don't bypass step one! For melanin-rich skin types, when a strong peel goes on, the skin goes into shock and purges melanin to try to protect itself.
