Another great day with the Global Learning Charter School Summer Program! 💈✂️

Today, we took the classroom into the barbershop.

I wanted these students to experience more than just learning how to cut hair—I wanted them to feel the atmosphere, see how a professional shop operates, understand the business side of barbering, and experience the positive energy that comes with building relationships through this profession.

Today’s demonstration focused on how to line up a beard while keeping it as natural as possible. We talked about paying attention to detail, respecting the client’s natural features, and understanding that every haircut is a reflection of your work and your name.

But my favorite part of the day wasn’t the haircut…

It was listening to these young men talk about their goals, dreams, and what they want out of life. Seeing them ask questions, stay engaged, and picture themselves in a career they may have never considered reminds me why I started this program.

These kids are the future. If we invest our time, knowledge, and encouragement into them today, they’ll have the confidence to build something special tomorrow.

A huge thank you to Global Learning Charter School for trusting me with the opportunity to mentor these students. I’m grateful to play a small role in helping inspire the next generation.

Week 5… the FINAL week of our barber seminar… and we went out the RIGHT way.

Major shoutout to Drew Sylvia at D&D caterers for pulling up and turning it into a full Taco Tuesday 🌮🔥 The food was on point and the kids definitely felt the love.

Even bigger — shoutout to one of our clients Dana Dupras Jr Sofia Reboca Dupras who stepped up and donated towards dinner for the class. No cameras, no attention… just real support. That’s what separates a community from everything else 💯

And let’s not forget — CONGRATS to our raffle winner who walked away with the GRAND PRIZE 🎉 You earned that!

But let me be real for a second…

This wasn’t just about tacos.
This wasn’t just about haircuts.

This was about showing these young individuals what consistency, discipline, and effort actually looks like.

Every week they showed up.
Every week they got better.
Every week they proved something to themselves.

I’m beyond thankful for this group. I looked forward to every single session, and I truly hope I made an impact that sticks with them for life.

💈 Week 4 of the Barber Seminar 💈

Today was all about thinking like a professional.

We started off with some real questions:
👉 What kind of barber are you under pressure?
👉 What matters more—your skill or how you treat people?
👉 What makes a client come back to YOU?

The conversations were 🔥 and you can see the mindset starting to shift.

Then we got hands-on and started learning hot towel shaves 🪒—attention to detail, patience, and taking pride in every step. (No blade lol & yes I was the client today 😂)

This is bigger than just cutting hair… it’s about building discipline, confidence, and a future.

Big shoutout and thank you to Felix Plante , former New Bedford High School athlete, for giving back to the youth in our community. 🙌

Felix stopped by today to get a cut & decided to give back to the barber seminar and bought a raffle ticket to donate to one of the students in the class. His words stuck with me… “Sometimes these kids just need an opportunity.”

That’s exactly what this program is about — giving young people a chance, guidance, and showing them what’s possible. 💈

We appreciate you supporting what we’re building and believing in these kids. And thank you for the time and heart you gave representing the city on the field as well, brotha.

Week 3 of the Barber Seminar 💈

Today we talked about something a lot of people don’t realize…

Opening a barber shop is the easy part.
Running it the right way is what makes it last.

These young barbers are learning more than just how to cut hair. They’re learning about responsibility, professionalism, customer service, and what it takes to run a real business.

Seeing them step up, work together, and take this seriously every week is powerful. The future of this industry is sitting right in these chairs.

Parents — you should be proud. These kids are putting in the work. 👏

One of our local firefighters who’s also a client here at Goodfellas Barber Lounge, stopped by and bought a raffle ticket — not for himself, but to donate to one of the students in our barber semniar

We’ll be putting all the students’ names in and drawing one at random, and that student will receive the raffle ticket.

It’s moments like this that remind us how strong our community really is. Small acts of kindness can make a big impact, especially for these young kids working hard and showing up every week to learn.

Much respect to our local heroes who continue to support the next generation. 🔥✂️
