I want to talk non-skin care for a second.

What do you guys do, solo, to nourish your soul and recharge?

For me? It’s being in the woods on a long hike. 🌲

Nothing feeds my creativity, my spirituality, or my need for physical activity quite like it.

I’ve worked my way around Wisconsin this summer and worked myself up to 10 miles on a single hike. And the best part? I can’t wait to keep doing more.

I like to wake up early, hit the road, get to wherever I’m going, hike my tail off, and still make it home at a reasonable hour, all in one day. But before I do head home, I take myself out to eat at some nostalgic local hole in the wall I’ve never been to as some type of trophy for my efforts. Let me tell you, a meal after a ten mile hike is pure heaven. And maybe a hard earned drink too. 😉

There’s something incredibly empowering about hustling through the wilderness until my hips feel like they’re seizing up, every step hurts more than the last, and I’m questioning some of my recent life choices, but continuing anyway 😆

Because eventually, I see my vehicle.

And on the really long ones? I am 100% relieved and occasionally half in tears when I get there.

Not because someone pushed me. Not because anyone was watching. Not because I had anything to prove.

Just because I decided I was going to do something I once thought I couldn’t, and then I did it.

That feeling is impossible to replicate. And it’s 100% my own doing.

I think that’s pretty neat.

I’ve seen so many beautiful things this summer that I never would have had access to if I hadn’t been willing to lace up my shoes, disappear into the woods for a few hours, and go find them.

And somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t just finding beautiful places.

I was finding out what I’m capable of. ❤️
