YOU ARE INVITED!

In this webinar, we will delve into the often complex and intertwined nature of anxiety and addiction. Anxiety can be a powerful driver behind addictive behaviors, as individuals may turn to substances or compulsive habits as a way to self-medicate and temporarily escape overwhelming feelings of fear, stress, or worry. Understanding this connection is crucial in developing effective strategies to address both issues concurrently. Also, is it just these two that are triggering each other or are there more deeper root causes that underlie both conditions and need to be discovered and addressed?

Oil pulling – an ancient Ayurvedic oral hygiene practice has many health benefits. Daily practice balances the oral microbiome, reducing bad breath, tartar and plaque formation. Aids with detoxification. Recent research shows that an unhealthy oral microbiome has been linked to diseases such as depression to dementia. Especially for dementia, studies show that peri-odontal infections and disease occur years before cognitive impairment is noticed, which indicates the huge potential for simple daily practice like oil pulling to reduce your risk for such conditions

This article (PMC5654187) describes the benefits of oil pulling as mentioned in ancient Ayurvedic texts. This article reports that these texts mention that oil pulling helps nearly 30 diseases such as migraines, diabetes, asthma, and eczema.

Here’s the how-to for oil pulling:

•	Start by putting 1 tablespoon of oil in your mouth.
•	Swish and pull the oil in the mouth, moving it around both sides, and in front of, behind, and through the teeth.
•	Continue the process for 15–20 minutes until the oil has become thin and whitish in color. (You will want to work up to this time frame, but to start, try to swish for at least 5 minutes for the best results.)
•	Spit out the oil in the trash or toilet, rather than down the drain, to avoid clogging the drain. Do not swallow the oil.
•	Rinse the mouth with warm water.

For my daily practice, I tried coconut oil and then sesame oil. It takes a little getting used to 😉 and I was not consistent with it. However, since using daily swish by Banyan Botanicals, incorporating oil pulling has become a “must-do” ritual for me. Made of sesame and coconut (which alone is antibacterial and antifungal), it also has herbs like guduchi, fennel, and Triphala, which help with the very important function of digestion and detoxification. Finally, the mint oil in it leaves my mouth feeling fresh and clean!
