Dark spots aren’t always caused by the sun. ☀️
Hyperpigmentation can happen for a lot of different reasons—including post acne marks, certain medications, irritation, over-exfoliation… and hormonal changes.
One common type of hormonal hyperpigmentation is called melasma. Melasma usually appears as brown or gray-brown patches on the forehead, cheeks, upper lip, or chin, and it’s often triggered by hormonal changes from pregnancy, birth control, or hormone fluctuations.
After having my second son, I developed melasma on my forehead. As an esthetician, it was a reminder that pigmentation can happen to anyone—even when you know how to care for your skin.
The first step is figuring out what type of pigmentation you have, because not all dark spots should be treated the same way.
If you’re struggling with stubborn pigmentation, I’d love to help you create a treatment plan that’s right for your skin. 🤍
Getting facials @ Get Well Soon Spa will always have you doing your happy dance 💃🤗
But seriously though… please exfoliate, people. 😂
You should be exfoliating your skin about 1–2 times a week. Your skin naturally sheds dead skin cells about every 28 days, but they don’t always fall off on their own. When they build up, they can contribute to clogged pores, dull skin, and make it harder for your skincare products to absorb.
On the flip side… more is not better. 😖 Over-exfoliating can damage your skin barrier, leaving your skin irritated, dry, and extra sensitive.
The goal is balance. Exfoliate consistently—not excessively—and your skin will thank you. ✨

✨ Healthy skin isn’t about luck—it’s about the habits you practice every single day.
The little things add up:
☀️ Wearing SPF
💧 Staying hydrated
😴 Prioritizing sleep
🥗 Nourishing your body
🧘 Managing stress
Your skin remembers how you treat it.
If you’re already investing in good habits, professional treatments can help take your results even further by supporting collagen, improving skin health, and keeping your glow going.
Save this post for a reminder, and share it with someone who’s serious about aging gracefully. 🤍
