Today marks a special milestone—our 5-year anniversary! 🎉 Owning Clean Beauty has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I’m immensely grateful to my dedicated team for trusting me with their careers, and to our incredible clients who make it all possible. We truly wouldn’t be here without you!

Not only are we celebrating the salon’s 5-year anniversary, but it’s also my 25th year in this wonderful industry. The beauty of our field lies in the ability to transform lives through hair.

Additionally, I’m thrilled to share that this year marks my 20th anniversary as a certified fusion extension specialist. Fusion extensions are my absolute favorite technique, and after performing thousands of extension services over the years, the joy and empowerment my clients experience never cease to amaze me!

I’m also excited to announce my next adventure! As many of you know, I have a passion for clean beauty and supporting women with hair loss. To deepen my expertise, I’ll be pursuing my trichologist certification. This two-year program will equip me with the knowledge to better assist my clients dealing with hair loss.

Building relationships with our clients is essential to our success because it allows us to understand their needs and preferences, and tailor our services to meet their unique goals. I used to cringe every time someone called me nice! Ugh, like being nice made it sound like I was weak or a push over. Especially as a salon owner and coach.

But it’s simply not the truth. I’m not just nice, I’m intentionally nice. Being intentionally nice is a choice that I make consciously every day. I treat humans with kindness, love and respect. Trust me it’s not always easy. I’ve learned that you can make a bigger impact on someone’s life with more niceness then not.

What exactly is mass production?

Mass production is the manufacturing of large quantities of standardized products, often using assembly lines or automation technology. Mass production facilitates the efficient production of a large number of similar products to meet high consumer demands.

Mass produced beauty products are made with cheap ingredients that harm animals, the environment and humans.

❌Cheap ingredients such as fillers are used to add volume to product production.

❌Some big beauty brands still test on animals. It's important to read the fine print when reading brand policies, as many of them will claim to be cruelty-free but then include a clause about "except when required by law".

❌70% of personal care product packaging ends up in our landfills.

❌ The laws governing cosmetics and personal care products are so limited that known cancer-causing chemicals, or carcinogens, are legally allowed in personal care products. Some carcinogens, such as formaldehyde and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives, are common in personal care products, while others are less common, but still occasionally present

When choosing beauty/personal care products look for boutique brands that are committed to transparency, low-tox ingredients and eco-conscious practices.

Gloves are a simple and effective way to protect yourself from chemicals we are touching every day while working behind the chair.

🧤Wear gloves when applying color. This one seems like a no-brainer but not all stylists wear gloves when applying color.

🧤Wear gloves when shampooing color. Even though you’re removing color from your client's head your body is still absorbing the chemicals from the color application. Not only are you protecting yourself, but you are also protecting those freshly manicured nails as well.

🧤Wear gloves when toning. When applying toner, we are blending and rub the color into our client's hair for several minutes at a time.

🧤Wear gloves when sanitizing. There’s no way around sanitizing in our industry. Sanitizing our combs, brushes, etc keeps us from spreading germs from client to client.

🧤🧤It’s important to know that not all gloves are created equal. Investing in chemical-resistant reusable gloves is the way to go!🧤🧤

The search term “clean beauty” is up 51% in the past 10 years.

The resistance to incorporating clean beauty practices into your salon will soon be detrimental to your business.

Consumers are more educated than ever before. They are demanding ingredient transparency, ethical and sustainable practices from the businesses they choose to invest in.
