There are days when healing doesn’t feel loud or dramatic. Grief has been my close companion lately and the journey to healing and giving myself grace has been slow. But not every healing journey looks powerful from the outside. Sometimes it looks soft. Quiet. Gentle. Sometimes it looks like choosing yourself again and again. Sometimes, it’s slowly returning to yourself with acceptance and grace.

I was constantly moving, going from one task to the next, feeling more and more tired from the never ending to do list. I sat on my mat from exhaustion and stared at the wall thinking, how do I add more hours to my day?? Or better yet, how do I add energy to my ever depleting battery? Where do I even begin when I knew I had something else to do?

I stretched and as I close my eyes, I am reminded to pause. Because at the moment, I didn’t need answers, I needed stillness.

: Rest without guilt

Today I craved rest and felt that I did not deserve it unless it was “granted” to me. I had to fight the urge of making rest a treat and instead use it for what it was meant for, a recharge. I did not have the energy for practice but I did have 15 minutes to lie down, ground myself, and rest without guilt.

It felt glorious. It felt rebellious. It felt freeing.

A 15-minute nap was all it took to feel better and I did not have to feel guilty for it. Rest is not a reward. It is not deserved but simply received.

Some nourishment can’t be automated.
It lives in the pause, the presence, the tenderness of real connection. Inspired by Dr. Riana Elyse, I’m remembering that healing grows deeper when we tend to actual relationships, not just convenience. Choose the people who hold space for us every single day, those who love us and speak truth because they know us and want the very best for us, and allow your spirit to rest in that love and bloom.
