I had to join the 2016 makeup memories! This was a time to be a makeup artist!!
I loved a glitter cut crease😂 and the girls love coming get one! This is when I was most expressive as an artist. Makeup was fun! Being a makeup artist from New Orleans was fun! From doing photo shoots to upcoming brands doing fashion shows😭🥰 I don’t think people even have fashion shows anymore! Before instagram branding and Instagram having professional marketing tools, we connected and networked and had fun. This was an era🫶🏾

I take so much pride in what I do!
Beyond how I apply makeup, I’ve learned a lot professionally through trial and error.
1. Be considerate- Clients like to feel valued and considered. Aside from applying their makeup properly, show them in different ways how you value them for patronizing your business. Communicate properly, compliment them, show interest in them. Do whatever to make them feel good and elevate their experience with you!
2. The client is right- As the professional, the business owner, you’re not right (even when you’re right). It takes a very professional and PATIENT person to understand. You may have done your very best and the client isn’t pleased. As the professional you have to be prepared to handle any criticism/negative feedback. Always stay professional, it’s not personal. How you approach the situation is what the client will appreciate. Don’t make someone feel bad for spending their money.
3. Time management- To be transparent, I’m STILL working on time management. How you manage time as service provider matters. The client doesn’t care what happens that caused your schedule to be thrown off. And guess who’s right?😊
It’s important to plan your day properly as a professional. You never want to intentionally inconvenience your client.
4. Retention- You want your clients to RETURN! You have to build relationships/genuine connections. All by being considerate, staying professional and not trying to be right, managing your time properly, and doing your very best. Retention keeps your business successful and thriving.
5. Consistency- Being a service provider is so up and down. No matter how hard or complicated it gets, DONT QUIT! I have seen literally every side, met every type of client, dealt with so many different personalities and it hasn’t been easy. But I always chose to show up! During the down moments when I didn’t feel like my best, when I felt it wasn’t for me any more, I still showed up and never quit. Speak life into yourself and fight to be best version of yourself. It’s all to build character and to transform you into the best version of yourself.
