Did you know salons were not originally included in Phase 1 of reopening?

It was through the leadership and guidance of local salon owners in Louisiana that we were included in phase 1 of the reopening.

If you’re getting a haircut soon or reopening your salon business, there was a lot of hard work that went in to getting our industry back open.

We worked as a task force named Beauty Industry United. As head of the task force, along with Tanya Haynes of Friends Salon, we were in constant contact with state and local leaders behind the scenes.

Our industry really suffered in the beginning of the shut down and there were many unanswered questions about the future.

In New Orleans we were lucky enough to have a mayor who listened to our concerns. Mayor Cantrell helped guide state leaders in understanding our industry, and getting us back to work safely.

Not every state had the same leadership or opportunity to return to work. We are lucky today in Louisiana.

I’d like to personally thank David Connor of Anti-Gravity Salon, and Diem Luu of Carpe Diems Salons. Thank you for your feedback on proposed guidelines, many of which have been implemented today. These guidelines will help our industry return to work in a safer environment for both clients and staff.

I am honored to have been a representative for our industry and grateful for the opportunity to work with so many talented individuals on our task force. Thank you Tanya Haynes for all your positive motivation, and tenacity in getting the work done. You’re a fearless business woman and our industry is lucky to have your leadership.
