of barbering to Treme. Traditional barbershops are almost gone and forgotten, but there are a few in the metro area including Bluenote, that are fighting to keep this once heralded tradition alive. In talking to residents in the area and to family members Invee discovered that the current location of his barbershop, was the site of Preston and Hampton’s Barbershop which was staple of the community before hurricane Katrina. Though this shop has a legacy that was established long before him, he’s attempting to start a new legacy with this shop by making it a family orientated business, His eldest son Kennedy Burrell looks to follow in his footsteps in becoming a barber also, with that Invee is looking to pass on to him what was handed down to him by mentors Alexander Smith III and Eric Weary Sr. whom instilled in him the standards of what it is to be a professional and master barber. “(says Invee) I only hope to accomplish in my career what they have already accomplished in theirs”
